Wow, people are saying a simulation would've been better. C'mon guys, you KNOW you would've been pissed if that was the real ending. You KNOW it. That would've literally been a complete waste of 100+
hours of gameplay.

Either they honestly believe that something, which is the equivalent of not playing the entire series, is better

Or

They're lying.

Chances are they're lying, and that should always set off alarm bells when someone has to lie to try and make a point, or make someone else look bad.

LOL at the people who said they would prefer the OP's hypothetical ending.

I think it would have been hilarious if Bioware did something like that.

See, try all you might and you still can't end up with something worse than what Bioware wrote. Which makes SuperMac's achievement all the more impressive.

(but seriously I don't understand the point you're trying to make. "It could've been worse" isn't an excuse, and the hypothetical existence of worse endings does not make the current writing acceptable in any way)

Nope.

Not lying.

Just that bad of an ending where even one that tries to fail fails at doing it worse.

I'd have a broken 52'' LCD if that happened. Literally, controller through TV.

It would have been even funnier if the only way you could beat the Reapers is if you had every war asset in the game.

Just for the record there are alot of things wrong with ME3, it's not just the endings that let ME3 down although the stupid Red, Blue and Green endings completely invaliadet everything that came before ME3 and make sure that Bioware can never build anything after ME3 either ( and Refuse makes Shepard the biggest failure in gaming history who just roles over and admits defeat ).

Having said that, yes the endings could have been worse. I don't particularly like the cenario that you painted with the simulator. I remember pre ME3 when alot of gamers were joking about ME3 ending with Shepard waking up after being knocked unconcious by the Prothean Beacon in ME1, to that would have sucked.

Now:

If only Tali, one of three most loved characters (according to fanbase) didn't recieve a cheap, badly photoshoped 5 minut work instead of a in game model...

If all ME2 squadmates didn't recieve a short end of a stick...

If the fetch quest were more like ME2 where you land and explore/fight/interact with something...

If...a lot of ifs.

Like harbringer says: This is what we face - ME3 was not what a lot of people wanted it to be.

And these are a small example of why ME3 fails.

I personally like the ME3 endings. They've given me more to think about and talk about than any other game ending in recent history (since KOTOR, in fact).

Of course, there's also the fact that ME3's story isn't over yet. We're going to be getting DLC for the next year or so, leading up to ME4 on the next generation of consoles.

It's not bad from a stand alone gaming perspective.

people here always say the endings are the worst thing in gaming hsitory,  although I highly disagree (I can think of a few games from the mid-late 90s that were worse), it could have been way worse.

Example of a worse ending for ME3:

After fireing the Crucible big Letters appear on the screen saying "Simulation Completed", you then see Shepard exit a cryo pod, Anderson comes over and says "You did good son, welcome to N7".

This would have been much worse.

So just be thankful the ending was not as bad as that

Hmm, no I disagree.  That would have been a better ending.

Yeah, to be honest I think I'd actually prefer this. It would certainly set up a continuation for Shepard's story.

(P.S. I think the worst ending goes to "Outlaws")

ME3 endings are fine, people just like to wine. They forget about the cool things in Mass Effect and go to the bad ones.(which to me there aren't any) It's a cool game/series that provided me with coool and fun experiences with family online with an exciting and thrilling story to top it off. so yes keep the hate to you yourselves.

There is a difference between the ending of ME3 game and ME trilogy. The ending of ME3 game itself is not bad, but the trilogy (5 years since ME1 !) deserves a better ending.

If I had to play Priority:earth to get this ending I would really be pissed. But only marginally more than with the actual ending.
Anyways, "it could be worse" easily makes it to the top three stupid arguments.

SInce i was born in the 90´s and didn´t play any games from that era in PC, well let´s just say my game collection isn´t as big as others in the BSN, so if i say that ME3 it´s the worst ending "I" ever played it´s because it literally is.

Now that i think about it that isn´t a bad thing, i won´t get more angry/dissapointed with other titles
