Alistair and Morrigan: Is There Something Else?

-They're in essence, opposites. Silly and serious. Beauty and brawns. The common denominator? Being different.
Alistair is used to following what others have told him, in a sense he doesn't even belong to this world since his birth was an accident. He's been floating along hoping to find his place. Morrigan grew up in practical isolation, her curiosity in human matters suggests she too wants to connect with something. This is as cliche a setting as it gets, and a perfect platform for romantic feelings.
-Oh please, they bicker constantly. Yes you can liken it to sibling rivalry, but sometimes the topics get a little personal and even Morrigan seems to back off at times or hold off on anything too harsh when it comes to something particularly sensitive (Alistair's mother).
-I believe there was a specific dialogue option at one point with Alistair where you can ask him what he thinks of Morrigan. That's a big hint I think, that at least someone in character development thought that there might be something there.
Now to be fair, I have not beaten the game yet. I am close (almost at Denerim), so I haven't collected all the "evidence" that the mage and the templar care for each other in that way. I was just wondering what other people thought on this. What feel did you get? Could you see a romance? If anyone from Bioware or something could shed some light on this, I could finally put this question to bed. Okay, maybe that was a poor choice of words.

There is a "special" dialogue sequence with Alistair about Morrigan, but it just gossip, and it stop there and not romance at all. As far as i know, playing this gave over and over, there is no such dialogue about Alistair have feeling with Morrigan and otherwise.
Edit : Oh, there is unfinished cut off content about Alistair and Morrigan if you want to watch

Alistair is by no means stupid. He has a good sense of humour, morals and principles.
I think that most people think they prefer Morrigan, but would actually prefer to travel with Alistair. You can trust Alistair. Morrigan, on the other hand, has been brought up to be brutally practical.

He really, really doesn't like her. I don't have a reference handy, but I'm pretty sure David Gaider (who wrote them both) has confirmed that no, REALLY, it's not a cover for sexual tension, they just hate each other.
Which doesn't stop Alistair/Morrigan fanfiction from enjoying a certain popularity. You'd hardly be the first to want to see them together.

Yes, i do feel Alistair-Morrigan relationship is interesting....but unfortunately it ended in the final (vanilla), and cliff hanger in Witch Hunt (DLC). In anyway, Alistair will never be with Morrigan except for the specific "quest" near the end.

Yeah that's how I see it.
Alister would love to lap Morrigan's sweetness, but he's way too much of a wuss for a survivor like her.
As said though Alister would make a really good mate, and is an endearing chap. Two great characters!

Or the Moon without the Sun.
Now, which one of these two is the sun, or the moon, that depends on every single one of us. And this is where DA becomes such a great game: the words. Beside its beauty...
The storyline, the dialogs, the characters. Very strong, and even better: trusted.
There is faith everywhere in the making od DA, at least the Origin one, the only one I played so far....
Faithe every where, deep within every single maker of the game. You can't go that far without trust, strength.
That game made me able to dream, not play...
... which became some of a huge problem actually: I'm totally unable to replay it, with a different party.
It simply doesn't make any sense.
How is that possible to believe in that same story... if you believed in it... after "technically" changing the casting? You don't do that with books, or movies, only if they badly s... from the beginning.
And I tried. Only for a few seconds...
Sorry, but no, I'd rather keep those beautiful memories I got from my first and only DA trip.
And I'm also very greatful I got lucky enough to meet that dwarven couple near the end...
Like the last cherry on the last cake.
Heroes need to die.
And to be left resting in peace.
Such a well deserved one.

Still, I can imagine that they could overcome it, in certain circumstances, and in that case they'd be a great couple.

Canon says no, (to the bolded part)
If one think on the "joy" Alistair shows during a certain scene. Or the "readiness" beforehand to even consider this event. And even if it happens this stems out of vastly other reasons than "Oh Maker, Morrigan is so sexy, I want in her pants!" Quite the opposite, if the other factor wouldn't play be a role, he would never ever consider it and rather gladly face the consequences of not making the choice. He still will under some conditions.
Reluctantly admitting someone being beautiful =/= sexual attraction. Same goes for bickering.
Sometimes hate is just hate and things really at face value. Whatever someone wishes to interpret into it is their thing, but the canon of the game is off to nopeville with that theory.

Just kidding, haha. Point received. Just had a great conversation about Morrigan's mother with her today. I also think Flemeth is one of the most intriguing characters in the game. That twist with her and the grimoire later on...man, that was goddamn interesting. And difficult. Very very difficult.
I finished the Circle today and there was a part where I had to choose between killing or sparing a blood mage. It actually took me minutes to make a choice. I rarely feel so conflicted. She didn't even fight back...

*extreme girliness*
Alistair and Morrigan just go SO well together that I cant have a party with only one of them. I am a total Molister (erm, that sounds wrong) Alligan (heh, better) shipper. I can't even romance one of them because I feel like I'm breaking something. I really really wish you could somehow make them be together. They're just so

1. There's a considerable chance that this is Alistair's first sexual experience of any kind.
2. It is the very last time they will ever have any contact with each other.
3. It will produce the only offspring Alistair will ever be able to have, an especially important point if he becomes king.
4. If Alistair is not a virgin, this almost certainly means his lover had to talk him into having sex with another woman.
5. In this most intimate act, these two enemies have given each other something of absolute immense value. She has saved his life; he has given her a child. They probably both ended up giving each other physical pleasure. We never hear the last words they say to each other, or how they handle the situation when it's time to get dressed and go about their lives, but some little part of my headcanon tends to think that they did not feel quite the same when they got up as when they laid down. It is probably not possible for them to be friends, but that act has to affect the dynamic in some subtle way.

"Leliana was a lay sister of the Chantry. In a vision, the Maker urged her to leave the cloister and battle the Blight. Her skill at archery, evidence of a surprising past, brought her to the attention of the Grey Warden named Alistair. She soon joined him as an ally--and, rumor says, a lover."
so seeing as alistair had the chance to romance morrigan and became leliana's lover i don't think its anything but squabbling.

Their animosity towards each other is obviously based on the templar/apostate aspect...with the honorable mention of Morrigan seeing Alistair as a fool most of the time.
In my opinion...or headcanon if you like...while they constantly are making fun of each other...I never think they hate eachother. I think they do respect each other before the end.
