I guess it's pretty self indulgent artsy fartsy stuff but I'm a sucker for interesting stuff.

for a few hours of real gameplay It really felt like a patch or expansion rather than a full priced game. The single player was so short it was disgraceful.

The campaign in MW2 was not that short. As long as you didn't sprint through it as fast as you could, it should have taken about as long as any other shooter.

You're kidding? I returned Prototype after 3 days. I thought Infamous was 100 times better.

Let's not forget the better storyline, better graphics, better multiplayer, oh, and that it is a better game all around, but other than all that, yeah, it's pretty much the same game.
Like I said, Madden Football approach. It's what made shooters stale in the 90s too, update the graphics, add some new modes and maintain the "Kill'em all" approach to an saddly predictable plot. There was only one "twist" I didn't seem coming from a mile off and thats who the prisoner you rescue was.
And the multiplayer is only better if you like you match making even worse than it was in cod4

Mass Effect = bad game of the year for 2009
Modern Warfare 2 = good storyline ?
You know I can see why Mass Effect was disappointment, but when you said Modern Warfare 2 had a good storyline, that just invalidated anything you had to say.

Whoever thought that it was a good idea to do a free running game in first person was wrong.
This year was actually quite good for the most part.

Call of Duty: Madden foo... I mean Modern Warfare 2
Gave me flash backs to late 90s shooters. "The last game was a hit? Great! Release it again with new guns!"

Better storyline... If by better you mean requiring that all participants in the storyline having IQs of around 90 and the US mysteriously losing it's satellite capability, as well as all civilian guns vanishing from ownership in the US and the Russian KGB being made fools of in HUMINT, then I suppose it was better.
The worst game of 2009 was Borderlands for the PC, not because the game was bad but because the netcode was apparently programmed by a 5 year old. When you have to run Hamachi to run the damn multiplayer, there's a problem.

I agree, i couldn';t play that game by myself, i had to persuade two of my friends to buy it just so i could finish the campaign... Huge potential, could have been a COD rivaler if it wasn't for all the bugs, but i'm still not picking it up again.VanguardOfDestruction wrote...
Not necassarily the worst game but it WAS my biggest dissapointment of the year...Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Anyone else play it? It was ok from a tactical shooter standpoint but it was too buggey and the AI were like superhuman, entirely too smart. They literally shot(and sometimes killed you) from almost a mile away...insane!!!
Funniest thing about that game is if one of your friends is injecting you (healing you) and you patch your wounds at the same time, they can't move after you finish...Good way of annoying randoms on your team

Strange, I played Borderlands exclusively in multiplayer since the day of release and it worked fine.Ravenshrike wrote...
