Borderlands seems a fun game and I assume many people will love it.
I was eager to play this gunfight-like RPG before it got released.
Unfortunatly I don't like its gameplay, so big personal disappointement.

Why would you choose a good game for this list when there are plenty of genuinely terrible games?Capt. Obvious wrote...

And your network setup is? This is the ONLY game I've ever had to forward ports in, and even then it was buggy as hell till I booted up Hamachi. Moreover there are a staggering number of complaints on the boards. Once I got it to work, everything's been peachy.AshedMan wrote...
Strange, I played Borderlands exclusively in multiplayer since the day of release and it worked fine.Ravenshrike wrote...
The worst game of 2009 was Borderlands for the PC, not because the game was bad but because the netcode was apparently programmed by a 5 year old. When you have to run Hamachi to run the damn multiplayer, there's a problem.

I can't say for a worst game 2009, however for the worst 2009 game deception for me I would say Borderlands.

Agreed. It felt super repetitive and had a lame storyline. I'm blown away by how highly it's praised and just don't get it.
On top of that... the damn game gave me really, really bad motion sickness. So after playing 10 minutes or so, I'd feel the burning need to puke. Ugh.

Borderlands came from no where for me and i loved it. Twice the fun in co-op mod with a friend.

The campaign in MW2 was not that short. As long as you didn't sprint through it as fast as you could, it should have taken about as long as any other shooter.
Really? Most people put it at just 5-6 hours rather than the 20 or so that's the norm.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Left4Dead 2, there was a lot of annoyance at it on release due to the timing.
For me it was Ghostbusters PC. A well reviewed game on the consoles and yet the PC port was an absolute shambles with no multiplayer and mouse controls that won't detect slow movements of the mouse and have uncontrollably high acceleration. It's sat on my PC waiting for a patch to at least make it playable (although multi-player seems unlikely).

Resident Evil 5.
I love the series, loved 4, and had really high hopes for 5. I thought the graphics were great as well as the story, but the whole co-op was stupid. I felt it was forced on me. I did play single player, but your team mate just blows through ammo/items, and I ended up racing around against them to gather things.
I did try co op, and it was quite fun, but I just feel that I shouldn't have to play that way to enjoy the game.
Same can be said about the last SOCOM game. No single player campaign at all? Seriously, what were they thinking?

Road to Wrestlemania was terrible too. And Smackdown vs Raw 2009 (although that was late 2008, the title of the game will beg to differ).

I had no interest in Resident Evil series, but my friend made me try it and i loved it. Yeah i agree, they definitely made that game with co-op in mind and because of that i can understand the hate for it by those who played the previous RE games. But either way i have no complains here, i had a blast with it. Definitely one of the best co-op games i had the pleasure of playing.

I beat it on Professional, all by my lonesome. You just need to know when to switch between Sheva's two modes (I honestly can't remember what they're called).

No arguements here. I only bought it for the headset. Got the bundle for $30, and I couldn't find the headset by itself for less than $38. I was pretty happy.
So yeah, SOCOM: Confrontation was pretty ****e.

20 hours is not normal for a shooter. Even me, who likes to walk around aimlessly waisting time has almost never encountered a shooter that took more than 10 hours.

Isn't Half-Life 2 like twenty hours long (if I remember correctly)? and Bioshock like 15-20? I never played Bioshock but that's what I heard.

I enjoyed SW:FU actually, quite a lot, i'd say it was one of my fave games of 2009, but i understand about the ending, it wasn't the best they could have came up with.
