I'd like to see Blizzard, Mass Paralysis, Spell Might, Mana Clash, etc make a return for DA III.

I'd love to see blizzard, earthquake, inferno (?), entropic cloud and thunderstorm again! Made me feel like such a badass. But they screwed cutscenes.

Blizzard wasnt overpowered. Mana Clash...yes. However spells like Earthquake, Stinging Swarm, Glyph of Neutralization, etc should be managed to be put back in

That shouldn't be a problem any more, in DA2 all spells were stopped at the end of combat and impossible to cast outside of it.

I guess technically an upgraded dispel magic functioned similarly to mana clash. It just didnt do nearly as much damage. That being said I don't really miss mana clash too much, inferno, blizzard and paralysis/mass paralysis would be great to have back though.

I agree, I always play as a mage and I think those spells, and most of DAO's spells were really awesome! I hope they'd be brought back. The spells in DA2 looked amazing but didn't look as op'd IMO.

Please! I hope they bring back those spells, and some new ones to boot. In dragon age 2 the spells seemed a bit recycled. Nothing wrong with that, but there wasn't really anything new. Except for the force mage tree.

I'd love to see things such as Spell Wisp, Animated Death and Stinging Swarm in DA: I ! I'd also be very happy if we could get Lifeward back on our Spirit Healers.

While we're on it bring back spell combos. Why can my mage's spells only get cool effects when my rogues or warriros do something? Winters Grasp + Crushing Prison, bring it back.

Don't we already have crushing prison in DA2 ?

I love Animated death, Blizzard and Mass paralysis are my fave spells. I was dissappointed they weren't included in DA2

It be awesome if they could bring some of those old spells again

Best troll spell evah! I'd cheese the baddies by casting this when they were in other rooms and didn't even know I was there. Cheap? Yes. Over powered? Absolutely. Silly fun? Without a doubt. Its even better if you have two mages and can cast it instantly.

Yah know, speaking of spells it's time to get creative. I want air magic, which would be kinda like force magic but wouldn't because it was air. And I want blood golems, like blood magic golems. And I want DIFFERENT COLORED FLAMES. I mean really. They're shooting out of their hands/eyes/mouths/arse it should be more than just the standard boring orange. Like black, or blue. Or maybe like RED.

which was - and still is - lame IMHO (not the part about a spell stopping after combat is done - if a cutscene started - but the part of not being able to use a spell outside of combat)

it could be handled IMHO by having a training area (we have a fortress as far as i know, so a training ground should not be that hard to implement) and us being able to respecc (like in mass effect) if a spell we got turns out to not fit our play-style (like say you get weapon sustains (like in DA:O) and you do not want or need them anymore (or chose wrong) and want to say get mana-clash or something else)

as for area spells:

we had those in DA:II as well but yeah, a little more diverse spells would be cool ;)

I agree completely. I miss devastating area attacks like the above listed as well as Earthquake and Grease. I really, really miss Mana Clash.

Yes but back in DA:O if you froze someone solid (with Winter's Grasp, Cone of Cold, etc.) and hit them with Crushing Prison they shattered, regardless of remaining health.  DA2 not so much.

How about Hand of Winter from Awakening. I found it to be pretty useful. It should be higher rank spell of course.

I wouldn't count it as overpowered.  It really was overpowered but since it can kill you in 2 seconds it kind of evens it out.  It was the fantasy version of doing like a drone strike almost exactly of where you are...with a nuke.  Heavy risk...but the priiize.

I'd love to see more elemental spells, water based spells along with the ice ones would be interesting to see.

This. Twas my favorite thing to do in DA:O, and I was very very sad I could not do it in DA2.

Sure, it was OP as hell, but no letting you do spells/abilities out of combat prevented us from being able to ambush enemies. Which I think is an important part of using tactics....

Magic in DA:2 was laughable compared to the offerings of DA: O.

I especially longed for some of the omitted 'Origins tactical fare in DA; 2.
