Storm of the century!

Best troll spell evah! I'd cheese the baddies by casting this when they were in other rooms and didn't even know I was there. Cheap? Yes. Over powered? Absolutely. Silly fun? Without a doubt. Its even better if you have two mages and can cast it instantly.

This. Twas my favorite thing to do in DA:O, and I was very very sad I could not do it in DA2.

Sure, it was OP as hell, but no letting you do spells/abilities out of combat prevented us from being able to ambush enemies. Which I think is an important part of using tactics....

agreed. Arguably, though, DA 2 was not intended to retain the tactical flavor of origins.

Nothing is "OP" in a single player game.

i don't know about brining back the spell combos from dao (storm of the century, mass paralysis, whatever that grease fire thing was). it just felt like a cheat after a certain point, rather than good strategy. i was much happier with the cross-class combos in da2 in that regard.

but in da2 i thought it was kind of sad that only 3 of the skill trees had only one of those large-area, high-impact spells. i missed blizzard in particular, but earthquake and grease were pretty useful. and it just felt wrong that every "school" of magic didn't have their own spell designed to impact larger groups.

it left me feeling pushed to favor certain skill trees rather than exploring many. if i didn't want to play with elemental or galvanisitic magic (or get UBER good at entropy) then i felt like my pc was a total wimp, rather than this bad@ss champion character we were set up to become.

for real, how many people were uber-proud of a hawke having her archane skill tree maxed? ooooh, watch out for my healer/spirit mage! she has a total of TWO spells that might hurt you!

what's the advantage of having all these schools of magic to master that are hardly going to get touched b/c they didn't have at LEAST one spell that was AMAZING for debilitating a huge wave of enemies?
