I simply loved betraying Behlen right at the end on my Dwarf noble. Had myself a great evil laugh I did.
(not meta-gaming btw, when it comes to politics people are ALWAYS switching sides.)

And yet Bhelen DOES much better for the Dwarves than Harrowmont from the Epilogue.
What? I should think about the betterment of my people instead of my cold blooded revenge?
Never.

Only the simplest interpretation of those ending cards would indicate the dwarves are better off. A tyrant that dissolves parialment but opens the country up to foreigners for support, while empowering the poor, is probably destroying (and by that I mean murdering) much of the dwarven society in the process.A Golden Dragon wrote...

Isolation does not do great things for a country. Maintaining the status quo because of tradition instead of reforming a failing system is not my idea of a good ending. Harrowmont + anvil gave me an ending where the dwarfs still had a rather undemocractic system (what's so 'democractic' about a group of noble houses who get to always have power while the poor are eternally downtrodden) and are completely cut of from the surface.
Bhelen brings more equality to the people, expands trade (a good thing imo) and pushes back the darkspawn horde by expanding the military. Bhelen is an enlightened dicator imo.

The god of beauty was male, so you're dealing with a drag queen here.

Just look at ancient Greece and Rome. Altruism in the form of democracy has its place, but in the grand scheme of things, surviving is just more important.Obadiah wrote...

Sure, but it's built on a legacy of tyranny, betrayal, and murder, with no buy-in by most of the population. Once Bhelen falls (and he will) the society will disintegrate into chaos. Dictatorships are not known of building lasting institutions of governance. "Enlightened dictator" is the kind of thing that sounds good if you're outside hearing about it, but is hell to live through, if you even survive.wrathofnature wrote...
