[Bayonet Hipshot]

Hullo all,

I have Claymore at Level X & Wraith at IX.  My question is why would you pick the Claymore over the Wraith for any class ? Because :-

-With the extended barrel that pierces cover & negates some armor, Wraith does about the same damage or slightly more than an unmodded Claymore X .
-& it has 2 shots, you can have a bit more error. 
-Wraith reloads very fast so you don't really need to reload cancel.
-It's lightness means you can use it on any class, yes even Adepts.
-Wraith on an Infiltrator will be as effective as Claymore. 
-Wraith is more accurate as Claymore but that really doesn't matter
-2 shots means you can get more use out of Marksman, Devastator Mode, Hunter Mode.
-Wraith looks prettier (dat Golden Gun ! )

So is there any reason to use Wraith over the Claymore... ?

Wraith is better than the claymore for ease of use. If you are an expert reload canceller and an excellent shot, you might get more mileage out of the claymore. Because bosses.

First off, the Wraith is an Ultra Rare so until it reaches higher levels for most the Claymore is a better option. However, I have mine at IX and it is fantastic. Although if you can master the reload cancel the Claymore may be a better option. I personally prefer the Wraith myself though.

I just unlocked the Wraith, pretty happy but my Claymore is VII, so...ya

If you're a good reload-canceller and aren't too picky about cooldowns, the claymore is superior- the damage is just that monstrous. Not that there's anything remotely wrong with the wraith, it's darn good too, and better if you *do* care about cooldowns. Or if you can't be bothered with reload cancelling. I personally find it bothersome to do outside of using spacebar for it.

Claymore for pure shooty damage.
Wraith to supplement other damage.

I use my wraith on biotics who don't need 150+ CD, or melee characters mostly. For example the Krogan Shaman and vorcha it works well: they have powers, like to melee, and need something to burst-finish-damage.

Wraith with a blade/omniblade and HVB gives a lot of versatility compared to the claymore which needs a smartchoke + barrel/HVB.

Claymore does way more damage per shot, ad if you know how to reload cancel, you basically fire faster than a wraith.

I grew up on the claymore. I got so in tune with one-shot reload cancelling that by the time I got my wraith to X... it just feels... weird.

And the claymore sounds so crunchy.  
The wraith doesn't sound like its doing all that damage.

I almost always go Claymore for all classes who are shotgun wielders..

Because on Gold, a Claymore on a Geth Infiltrator can still 2 shot a brute (and probably a Scion), and 3-4 shot a Banshee/Atlas/Geth Prime. With reload cancelling, this amounts to 1 cloak cycle for Brutes, and 2 cloak cycles for bosses. Everything else can be 1-shotted. 

The Wraith cannot do that.

Wraith is better against mooks, but then again, there are better weapons than the wraith for mooks (Talon for example.)

Wraith RoF is a terrible thing. Most people don't notice it, but the low RoF screws up reload times. In the end, a reload canceled Claymore will perform incredibly better in some cases.

Wraith still amazing to my taste, very light and reliable all around shotgun.

Wraith is a 2-shot caster gun. Its refire time is nicely in sync with most power recharge times, so there's that. Also, it's incredibly powerful per shot with high accuracy.

Claymore is a 1-shot weapon class gun. Great with reload cancelling as long as you have no powers to interrupt your fire.

Different uses, cannot compare.

i'm not good with reload canceling and tend to miss more when i use the claymore.
i'm comfortable with my wraith X. it also weights a lot less than the claymore.

Wraith X is one of the lightest shotguns in the game and hits like a mule. perfect gun imo

Those krogans just KNOW what a gun needs and the claymore has it all. The bore is the same size as the deathstar´s one!

The 2nd shot and reload delay on Wraith make me feel like Claymore has a higher RoF, tho i'm doing my best these days to get used to Wraith.
