Wraith is for casters. Claymore for weapon classes (Sol/Infi)

My question is why would you pick the Claymore over the Wraith for any class ?

.....

So is there any reason to use Wraith over the Claymore... ?

I hate this kind of question, this make no sense for me. I use different weapons because this game mode is repetitive enough, why I would ignore the variety os chars and weapons? I use both, because both are good and they are different to use. Changing between both can be the difference between me getting bored with this game or feeling like playing again.

Wraith if you care about cooldowns.

Otherwise, Claymore.

Claymore GI is still one of the top kits in the game.

Because on Gold, a Claymore on a Geth Infiltrator can still 2 shot a brute (and probably a Scion), and 3-4 shot a Banshee/Atlas/Geth Prime. With reload cancelling, this amounts to 1 cloak cycle for Brutes, and 2 cloak cycles for bosses. Everything else can be 1-shotted.

The Wraith cannot do that.

lol yeah it can. you can easily 2 shot a gold brute with a wraith infiltrator. esp a geth one. the rof boost from hunter mode is great for that gun. headshotting a brute has never been so easy.

Wraith is better. If the Claymore was a bit lighter I would consider it

If modded right the Claymore can oneshot the mook in front of you and possibly the one or two behind him. It takes down bosses very fast. The refire time of the Wraith is a little bothersome. Both are great weapons probably the Wraith is the better all around weapon because of weight and still great damage.

The reload issue on the Wraith because of the slow rate of fire means the claymore can actually get off more shots if you know how to reload cancel.  And since the shots are more powerful, the claymore will do more damage.

Wraith is better on a class dependent on powers (Adepts, Vanguards, Engineers).  Claymore will work on classes built for gun damage without a heavily reliance on powers (Soldiers, Infiltrators and some Sentinels)

I love the wraith.
But if you don't care about cooldowns the claymore is better.

 1. Not all of us have Wraith 10s.
2. Dat Claymore sound.

I just love the Claymore. There was a time it was on every single one of my chars (except the heavy casters). It's just a lovely gun that feels right in my hands. I'd still use it, even if it wasn't that kill-all monster.

The Wraith X is good, but I'm always going to prefer the Claymore.

I find that the Wraith is just a little too slow for what it is. It's pretty useful, and works well on classes whom are firing powers off between shots (whom don't worry too much about their RoF). But even on larger classes, I find that double the pellets just makes for more reliable damages. The Claymore gives you stupendous amounts of variation in damage at range, in some cases having nearly all shots hit the mark, in others only getting an eighth of your damage. More pellets means more reliability, and makes a bad shot less of a punishment.

Honestly, it's the only weapon I'd really consider using on the Havoc, as it can get one shot off between flybys and weighs enough to get a reasonable amount of strikes on target. I'd personally use the Wraith over the claymore in most scenarios, except for on ultra-heavy characters, whom I wouldn't use the claymore with anyway.

Wraith is a great gun, but the claymore does a good deal more damage, try one shotting a brute on Gold with a wraith. like every other person on here has said, wraith on casters/cooldown dependant classes, claymore on everything else.

Timing is everything with the wraith. I really got into shotguns with the... Eviscerator. I know, it's a weak gun, but it did what I needed perfectly; it followed up a salvo of balistic blades. Then you get the wraith, and it is pretty much the exact same thing, but it actually kills things :D. Truth be told, I love my wraith I even more than my claymore, just because I am more familiar with its style, but as you have seen in the replies, the claymore is an excellent choice in its own right. It all comes down to preference.

Love the wraith and just head shoting enemies across the map with it. Also it was a 3 shot gun on the destroyer until they nerfed him

i think it all comes down to how much cooldowns your character has and how high you've leveled the wraith. mine's level IV and i use it on many classes where i want a light shotgun with more kick than the other light options. claymore is the ultimate shotgun damage. pure murder

For some reason my aim is a lot better with the Claymore. Probably because I know I only have one shot and have to make it count.

Sorry, you're right I calculated it out, my mistake.  Although with the Claymore and all weapon damage boosts you can 2-shot a brute with body shots (useful when they put their claw up.)

I've played with the wraith all day and it's pretty awesome, even at level 1.

The biggest problem for the Wraith, is the existence of the Talon.

LOL.

Maybe on bronze you can. Talking realistically here... every single pellet has to hit the head, and be within the cloak cycle/prox mine's debuff.

It might happen occasionally. But not often. Especially as brutes have that incredibly annoying tendency to put their arm over their head.

Wraith is better than the claymore for ease of use. If you are an expert reload canceller and an excellent shot, you might get more mileage out of the claymore. Because bosses.

Maybe on a Infiltrator, but the claymore is supbar vs bosses in my opinion. Graal does it better, as does the Wraith.
