I'm unable to install any patches for Dragon Age: Origins. It's the disc version (Collector's Edition). Whenever I try to run the installer for a patch it tells me that "Dragon Age: Origins was not found. Please reinstall the game and try again." My game is NOT installed on the C:\\ drive as that's my boot drive and only has 60 GB total. I personally do not want to take the time to reinstall the game if it's going to be an issue because I don't want to waste my time.
Any advice is appreciated.

I have Dragon Age on a drive other than my C (system drive) and it works fine now, but I did have to install multiple times to get DAO to recognise that it was installed, and working properly.
It took me a little over 4 hours to install DAO, and fix all of its install issues.........

That's a bit of a bummer. Do you have any idea as to what changed after the many installs? The game runs (and I think I remember it patching the first time) but I just can't patch it.

What happens (I believe) is that the startup functions autolinks at install to the folder you pointed it at... however, upon patching there is I believe an function to give in the right folder, otherwise it picks the autoinstall folder - which in your case, will be non-existent

I have the same problem: can not install patches.
What I realized is that I forgot to register the game.
(I have the original game/box/key)
But before I’ll do that: anyone had the same experience?

My game is not installed on the C:\\ drive but I had no problem patching it... I did register it, though (don’t know if it matters here).
But there is one more thing to check – the Windows registries. Run regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\BioWare\\DragonAge and check if everything seems fine with the Path value.
And also make sure you have a cd key installed in your registry, just in case (see the sticky above, it mentions problems with the DLC, but maybe it has some bearing on the patches, too?).

OK, I’ve found it.
In windows7 you can install the game with the administrator account, or with your own account.
When your account has no administrator privilages, the installer asks for the administrator password, and the game is installed with the administrator account. And that is where it goes wrong. For some reason, a part of the install is not correct, and the game can not be found when running the patch, or a DLC, and some of the MODs.
So what I did is: I gave my user account administrator privilages, and installed the game again. That was all.
One problem with installing the game again is, you can’t un-install it first, because it does not see a correct install. But when you use the autorun with the game-dvd, it says the game is alread installed. So you have to run the setup programfrom the DVD to install it again.
