Breaking into Bartrand's hideout/mansion is one of my favorite memorable moments of Dragon Age 2.
I wish we could've seen Casandra's face leading up to the moment it dawned on her that she was getting a complete stream of mainline bull%@&# courtesy of who became my favorite Dwarf of all time.

They aren't going with the same approach to narrative they did with DA2. The story won't be told from someones point of view.

-not a steampunk setting
-Still in the Dragon Age so no huge time jumps
-no gryphon riding (sorry)
-not a framed narrative
Additional tweet from Mark@SusanneSaville
Da2 had Varric as a narrator telling the entire story (like Princess Bride) DA3 doesn't do that

What do you think of this? Do you prefer Framed Narrative? Happy or sad?
No gryphon riding... huh, so that's a yes to gyrphons, just no riding them...
And to add to the steampunk topic. Steampunk is high technology with a low energy source, aka, planes (or "airships") and the like with steam or oil (not gasoline, just whale oil or crude oil) power. Low technology with high energy would be like swords and shields with magic, which is clearly fantasy; or maybe post apocalyptic stories like Mad Max or Book or Eli, where the tech is there but the power is limited and both are guarded. Low tech with low power is historical. High tech with high energy is modern/sci-fi or modern/sci-fi fantasy if it adds magic or supernatural stuff. Just my two cents.

Dragons are understandable because they hibernate underground at some point in their lives. So pretty much everyone thought they were dead but in reality they were sleeping underground, and possibly waking up only to mate. Then they pretty much just woke up and continued doing their dragon thing lolRaydiva wrote...

If you talk with Alistair at Ostagar he tells you that there are a few left in Fereldan and a few more in a couple of other countries. But they could have retconed it as mistress Woolsey in Awakening said that they are extinct. But who knows the Grey Wardens might only tell those within their order about the existence of the last few Griffons so they can protect them.Asch Lavigne wrote...
Only Wardens rode Griffins anyways. We're not Wardens anymore.
I thought Griffins were extinct. Are they back now? So if Griffins come back then will the next age be Griffin Age if this age got named because dragons came back?
Or could be that griffons are thought to be extinct but are not really. Didn't they think that dragons were extinct in the previous age and that is how this age got the name 'Dragon' cause of a dragon started rampaging proving that dragons were not as gone as everyone thought?

He was referring to the Wardens. I am replaying the game.
Griffons are extinct and I cringe everytime somebody posts that question.

Framed narrative worked well when you are passively watching a movie or reading a book. Not so much when playing a game.
Ubisoft's first Prince of Persia, all of the Assassin's Creed games, Eternal Darkness, and the first God of War would disagree.
None of which are RPG's though.
That has nothing to do with her point, but I'll add Alpha Protocol and the Witcher 2 to the pile.

It does have to do with what she said, though I was still just making a point beside hers. It's hard to frame the narrative of branching stories with a multiverse outcome.
Not that it should not be attempted of course. Results speak for themselves as you sy with your added titles.

I don't particularly care about riding a Gryphon or really want to ride one, I just want to see one. I've always felt like them being made such a big deal of in Origins was a giant tease. Awesome mythical creature that your entire order rode majestically into battle? No, they're all dead and you'll never see one yourself. lol *writer trollface*

Thank god we're not being told the story through Varric. I didn't really enjoy that (unreliable narrator if there ever was one).
Oh come on, when it's used appropriatly it's ok. I was never a fan of DA2 but the few times the unreliable narrator was used to comedic effect made me laugh (when Varric takes on an army of thugs in the mansion by himself being one of them).
