The Steam servers are currently too busy too handle your request.
Please try again in a few minutes.

The janitor probably tripped over the plug and killed the power. It'll take time to get the water boiling again so there's enough Steam for everyone.

the massive sales this past week and tons of people buying games might have something to do with the servers being busy..just a guess

Go to File -> Settings -> Downloads -> Change Server Location -> Africa/Iran/North Korea.

The one good thing about developing countries, they don't have enough people online to flood their Steam servers, by using this strategy, if you have even a semidecent download speed, you should be able to download anything under 20 gigs in about 30 minutes to an hour.

When this happens go to "files" "settings" and then "downloads" there you will find a list of all servers available. Switch to another server and you will be able to do your download. You will have to restart Steam once you switch though.

No No.

Most games come in two types, 4-7 gigs, or 20+ gigs.

I mean if your game is in the 4-7 gig catagory, you should be able to get it done in about an hour, maybe two using that strategy, with 20 gig games like DA:O, no matter what you do, it will still take 5-6 hours, and may even take up several days to fully download.
