I'd rather just be a human with Elf and Dwarf friends.
which race would you prefer to play?

Now back on-topic.
I think being human is fine I didnt find the elves sooo special like other people do. But maybe its
Because I never did care about the race since DA:O.

Elf. If they look like the Origins elves, otherwise dwarves.

when it comes to RPGs and my selection of race...i go for the ones with the most feminine looking badass females (tis why i love love the asari). In DA:O it was the humans. So im probably gonna have to say Human. unless they come out with female Qunari, redesign the elves, or introduce a new race...a race of ALL FEMALE CAT CHICS!! Martial arts masters that dont use weapons...cuz their hand-paws are deadly enough already!!
didnt care much at all for the redesign of the elves in DAII....disliked it a great deal. even though the elves in DA:O just looked like humans with pointed ears.

I'd go with Qunari.

I enjoy playing elves - generally, when elves are an option, I choose to play an elf first thing. Depending on the lore, I may enjoy it more or less, but overall, I tend to like elves. Bosmer and Dunmer are my favourites in Elder Scrolls, while I like the city elf and elf mage origins best in DA:O. When it comes to Dragon Age, I like playing elves because they're the underdogs - even the elf mage, in the Tower where elves are more-or-less equal to humans, gets hints of prejudice, and it's heavily implied in The Calling that yes, anti-elven prejudice is alive and well in the Towers, despite lip-service to the contrary.
(I also enjoyed dwarf commoner origin for the same reason, but mine was my fourth playthrough, and I just could not face doing the Deep Roads a fourth time, so she puttered out just before Orzammar.)
EDIT: And, as a note, I'd be happy to play a DA2-style elf. I liked the redesign (aside from the occasionally terrifying animation of the necks) and was pleased that they no longer looked precisely like small humans with pointy ears.

Elf... But only the Origins elves or something more unique. The DA2 elves looked... bad.

Elves and Dwarves are just basically re-imagined minorities which Bioware refuses to include in true human form for whatever reason.
Might as well get to the root of things and play a human.

An elf, dragon, or griffin would be my choices! I would not say no to a dwarf again either. I've heard people say that human was chosen because on DA: Origins most people played humans. I think the results are skewed. If they allowed elves or dwarves to become the king or queen, then you might have seen more of the other races played. I did not enjoy finding out that my elf could only be a concubine at best in DA: Origins. And I can not play a mage and be allowed to take the throne in it either. So I am on a new play through that does not thrill me as much since I must take the human fighter option to get to rule. So if the best ending is reserved for humans only, you will likely see more people play humans. Give the best ending to another race and see if the numbers shift.

A fixed dwarf protagonist in a future game might be a hard sell, but I think a fixed protagonist elf, provided that BioWare used a hot female default marketing character

could work, at the slight risk of alienating the "humans are the bestest race EVAR!!!111" crowd. I'd be fine with either instead of being forced to play a human by the time DA IV comes out. Ideally, though I'd like to be able to pick from a selection of different races, like I could in Origins. Humans are alright, but I play them less than other races in heroic fantasy RPGs, when provided with a choice.
Geralt of Rivia in Wiedzmin 1&2 (the Witcher games) was a fixed character in every since of the word, appropriately enough given that he's based on a character from a series of books (would you expect an Indiana Jones game where you could customize Indy's facial appearance? It would be weird). He was human, true, but at least he was a mutated albino human, which is at least a tad more interesting than just playing an ordinary man or woman.
Is anyone else aware of the derpy sub-Xena quality TV series-turned-cobbled together movie the Poles adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels?

I don't care about the race as long as the story is good. For all I care it could be a halfling taking a ring to a volcano...

Dalish elf.
We better get a really good romancable dalish companion to make up for it. Merrill was great. I'd like an archer this time, kind of cliche but so what.
