If not. Then I suppose Human will suffice.

There will NEVER be a game where the only race selection is elf or any of the others.  I'm sorry but they want the game to sell.  They might give race selections in another game but there simply will never be a single player game where there is no human choice.  Its just not financially feasible.

Seeing I prefer to play mages, I'd like to be a human or an elf. I'd love to play dwarven mage but alas it shall never be. *wipes a single tear*

I'd probably play an elf in DA3 if I could. Usually like playing a human but after two games would be nice to mix it up. As for dwarfs, I can never get into playing as a dwarf. Played and liked both origins in DA:O but I just could never get into it for some reason..

I usually play the 'heroic hero' in most games (when given the option) so race really isn't that important to me, since for me its usually just cosmetic anyway. Some mention is made in DAO for your race, or if a mage, your class, but for the most part elves, dwarves and humans pretty much got treated the same. You were a Grey Warden and most people respected that Order. If race had a more significant impact on the tale, maybe then.

Frankly I enjoyed playing Couslands and Amells as much as my Mahariel, Tabris and Surana. Couldn't get into the dwarf origins though I did get farther on an Aeducan than I did on a Brosca.

If the option is given, I always choose elf. If not, any race would fit, except human.

Don't take me wrong, there are lots of greats crpgs with human proragonist out there, but I really like playing as an elf. The city elf origin ind DA:O was amazing, specially the female one.

A pity we are forced to play again as a human.

In a franchise which has succeeded so much because of the option to choose I'd actually like a choice.

But if I HAD to choose one it would be a lesbian female elf every time. Leliana was her beeyatch.

Human for these reasons. Dwarf wouldnt fit for me in DA3 and Elves are just ugly after they were revamped

Qunari would be absolutely fascinating to roleplay, whether a convert like Tallis or someone born to the Qun. In that vein, Tal-Vashoth would also be interesting to play.

If I could choose, I would like a City Elf who believe in the Qun. I'm tired of the Andrastian religion.
Second, would came the Dwarf Castless. I really had too much fun with this origin.
Third, a Dalish Mage. It would be very interesting. I usually play as a rogue/assassin, but with the presence of this option, I would glady change my kind of game.
Still, after the great restyle in DA2, I would really like to play as a Kossith.

The Dalish elf was by far the most fun for me in DA:O. I dislike playing humans all the time. Any great epic story takes someone from the lowliest orgins and raises them up to epic herodom. An alienage elf or dwarven castout becoming the Hero of Ferelden far outclasses the noble prince/princess who goes on to become a hero.

Umm...   I just got done playing "Of Orcs and Men"  where you play an orc and goblin only.   It was a decent game and you couldn't play a human.

Usually when I first get into a new game I play as a human male first, to get a first introduction to the setting as close as possible to my own perspective, and once I know the lore I play mostly as other races. Since I am already familiar with the world of Dragon Age I would prefer to play first a kossith, if not available then a city elf would be my next choice.

Umm...   I just got done playing "Of Orcs and Men"  where you play an orc and goblin only.   It was a decent game and you couldn't play a human.  

I would like to play a game as a orc (sadly there is no such thing in Thedas), and I don't see the lack if a human protagonists as a issue, but it seems like "Of Orcs and Men" is just turning things around: orcs are good now and humans are the bad guys. And I dont like when any work of fiction works with those terms, I perfer when races are just diferent, like in Dragon Age, and there is individuals on each race instead of repeating sterotipes.

Besides, those orcs dont have fangs? What's up with that?

I would play as an elf first, then have my second playthrough as a dwarf. Why? Because I'm a sucker for playing minorities, especially ones that are discriminated against. It gives a satisfying feeling of accomplishment to go from the bottom to the top, a la castless dwarf or city elf in DAO.
