Article should explain why plot-hole ridden pieces of garbage shouldn't even be nominated.

yup..he said it and i totally agree....ME3....BEST VIDEOGAME experience i have ever had....cept for the last 5-10minutes...which was fixed with the EC. a lot of people LET the pre-EC ending(s) ruin their entire ME....which is extremely sad and petty imho.

This. Besides, ME3 fails horribly with it's boring firefight, horde mode, zombies knockoff.

ME3 is hardly original. Deus Ex:HR, Alpha Protocol, Fallout, etc.

Not really, it's pretty much the same and I was referencing the zombies mode Black Ops has, which is much more satisfying then the boring crap ME3 multiplayer is.

you can't retcon in your brain the immense let down and disbelief that occurred as you watch from the catalyst sequence onward

i can confidently say that almost everyone had the same experience that I did.  we all stayed up for days playing the game and then sat and watched the biggest abortion of an ending ever.  most of us, knowing how the previous games worked, scoured the internet going "where did i go wrong... what choices did i make to lead to this atrocity of an ending?"

it was the biggest slap in the face every delivered to a gaming community.  you can't just overlook that with some piece of garbage, afterthough DLC.

Again, hardly. It's more third person shooter now, which are hardly original. Besides, ME3 could've been the most original game out there but if it's broken fundamentally at it's core (story or gamplay) then it doesn't deserve an award that says "This is how you make a good game." That will only lead to more broken games.

how bout because it isn't nominated for game of the year???

Huh? Now that I think about it that could be a major obstacle. Not even being on the list.

It was released too late for consideration. Otherwise Halo 4 would have won hands down. As it is, my money is on AC3

I actually think the EC is in some ways worse than the original ending, if only because it shows that Walters and Hudson never really had any artistic vision or integrity to begin with.
And it's still got all the same glaring problems the original had in how badly it breaks the narrative. About the only good thing it does for some fans is provide some emotional closure, but I honestly found its attempts to do so laughably pathetic.

ME3 doesn't deserve the nomination... it's far from the game of the year. ME2, on the other hand, did deserve game of the year and I think it might have won though I'm not sure.

Halo 4 definitely isn't just another FPS. It's the best one out right now. Though I do find the genre completely stale, Halo 4 has brought some excitement back for me. 343 should be proud of themselves. I think it should be nominated for GotY, but if it were between the two games, I'd have to give the nod to ME3.

It's funny, because both games impacted me on such an emotional level, that I can't think of any other games in the last few years that have brought on such feelings. The only difference is, I felt that way all the way through ME3, whereas in Halo 4 such feelings didn't really peak until the end.

My two favorite series' by far though. 2012 has been a good year to me.

this.

it was almost as if they gave us a serious ****slap.  the ending itself should be enough of a warning to anyone even thinking about me4.  you want to play through a  game and be told by the designers that its your fault you didnt get the ending, after watching the biggest pile of ..... ever to appear in gaming?  thats what you got.

i find it astonishing people still defend the ending.  the extended cut didnt fix the ending.  it fixed the glaring errors in the bad ending.  the ending is still bad.  it throws away everything that made the trilogy enjoyable up to that point.  mass effect 1 is made completely irrelevant.

we wanted shepard to win.  instead we got 3 ways to lose.  previous choices matter my bum.

Maybe if you like silly rolls, easy gameplay, overpowered casters, and little to no class differences anymore (plenty do)

Otherwise ME2 was superior. High difficulty, no stupid space ninjas, stronger rpg mechanics (class and squad matter).

umm its too late for the Spike VGA's.(which are pretty much illegitimate) But it will certainly be nominated by every other major publication out there. They don't release their results in late January usually. Just for reference, Skyrim came out on 11/11/11 and won 2011 game of the year. Halo 4 came out 11/6/12. Not too late at all. Not sure where you're getting your information

I could spend my time trying to argue with all the haters in the topic but it would be a waste of time. I'll just say once the goty award are given out you'll be QQ here how wrong the game media is about who the goty award go to. Just how is the highest rate game of this is not going to get the goty award?

ha. So because you find ME2 more difficult, its better? Lol clunkiest controls ever. Stronger RPG mechanics?! Really? I'm sorry but I'm not even going to acknowledge this one. Ridiculous statement. Weapons pretty much all blow, no customization...I could go on about how awful the plot is or how linear and predictable the level design is, but that would go on forever

ME3 is easily deserving of the nomination. The last five minutes of the game was the only significant negative, which was made better to a degree via the EC. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but to try and pass the game off as objectively bad just makes you look like an entitled ingrate.

Maybe they don't care enough for your negativity to debate the topic?
