With the expectations for ME3...after the success of ME1 and 2...combined with the failure of DAII...WERE TOO F***** High imho. There was nothing BW could do to live up to those expectations with ME3. AND there is NOTHING BW can do to live with expectations THAT STILL EXIST FOR THE GAME EVEN AFTER IT WAS RELEASED almost 9 MONTHS AGO.

That's crap. They could have done much more if they had more time (EA's fault) and if they had of planned the god damn story so they could *foreshadow* the ending, at least. And I know it was set low because I did my back trying to pick it up (with IT).

I agree with you on that...the EA thing. we all know if given more time, ME3 could have been so much more....but alas.  DLC helps alittle in this regard atleas.

SO lemme say...WITH WHAT BW was able to do with ME3.....im content and do think it is a serious contender for GOTY.

overall.....imho...if they could have taken ME1 overall feel...put in ME3's combat....and  ME2's difficulty...I WOULD NEVER PLAY ANOTHER GAME.....EVER!!!

Well that actually depends. They have a seperate category for DLC so will ME3 be judged as a stock game without dlc?

Do i think stock by itself would be able to compete.....minus the last 5-10minutes......YES....

but as i said in an earlier post....ill be damned if i let the last few minutes ruin my ENTIRE experience with not only ME3..but all of ME.


edit: besides...how many GOTY awards did Fallout 3 get pre-ending dlc.

look....i didnt care much for the original endings...at all. they were confusing as hell. I didnt rage or join the REtake crowd.  BW fixed it with the EC.

even with the badly done endings...do i think ME3 is GOTY material? HELLZ YES!!

close to 9 months after release....we are still passionately (though quite often angrily) talking about the game. How many games released this year have had the same staying power? 


edit: I meant SINGLE PLAYER...dont you dare start chucking Multiplayer...though the ME3MP is still around and kicking...even though it is just a horde mode....which is a testiment to our love for ME.
 
edit 2: and...well.....ME3MP continued survival just shows that ME can exist without an RPG element...which would be very sad.....i'd probably still buy it though.

Have to disagree with you're definition of "staying power" Starcraft, had staying power, Baldurs gate, had staying power, games that people plug in x years later and still play because of a bout of fond nostalgia, have staying power.

We're discussing 9 months later how bad of a ****up it is and how many can't play the game (OR EVEN ITS PREDECESORS) again. That's not staying power. For it to have the ability to not only destroy itself like the SW prequels but also go even further and ruin what came before it for people? That's being remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Would you say the SW prequels have staying power? No. People talk about them with disdain, the younger crowd George Lucas tried so hard to enrapture thinned out and moved on to other better things. The same thing will happen with ME3 down the road mark my words.

That's "staying power" as a cautionary tale on how not to conclude your game. And that's not Game of the Year Material. DLC or no DLC.

It's sad because this often affects the product's quality.

And why must it be simplified with hapiness and and an oversimplification with you people. I do not dislike the ending because it isn't "happy" I despise the ending because it is in every way, and from every perspective and objective critera that can be measured, largely broken.

Do you believe a nomination means anthing? In videogames of all things? Its the most blatantly bought and sold event that can be measured. Even people who don't pay much attention to these things can see such. Do you think such things are legitimate?

And even if they are do you trully believe this game, outside of your belief and those Hereign (because this road goes both ways) that it will really win? Look at the comments within the VGA board. For every one person that says ME3, there are at least four mentioning AC3, three mentioning Journey.

As for games that "got me" this year, Xcom, the Artorias DLC revitalized Dark Souls, I have yet to play Dishonored or Halo but what I've seen, I've liked.

I have not played AC3 but given the fact it did not end with 80 thousand being raised in charity I'll take it to mean it was largely better than a game that required a fix that still leaves it very widely broken.
