Leviathan without the EC would have given sufficient explanation of the Catalyst, the Reapers, and the purpose of the cycle. However it would have left the actual results of the ending up to wild interpretation, which is an artistic decision and can be seen as both good and bad.

It's not terrible writing when any explanation beyond what we were given in the original endings is unnecesarry to the story or the gameplay or anything of real importance, beyond curiosity.

Not ME related, but...the game should be renamed Halo Reach+: Master Chief Edition.

This game is a letdown, it barely changed anything. Was 343 too scared to do change?

Real "fans" will not take anything, they will tell what is wrong. Not just sit there and nod. Seriously, stop thinking being a "real fan" means you love everything.

I am certain that EA marketing will invest a lot of effort to get soon some kind of award for ME3 due to increase in sales of the new 3 game set it will bring, but as far as i am concerned ME3 does not deserve to be a game of the year. Ha, it needs a fan made mod to make me considering replaying it an option.
Even if i try to be objective and forget final 10 minutes, it just does not cut it. Not a bad game, but considering the competition it is pretty average. There are awesome parts,there are improved bits and there are much more boring bland parts and broken bits.

mass effect 3 for GOTY? no and that not because an ending.

even I'm not bring ending up for consideration, ME3 still not deserve it. second half of the game
is rush. so much potential gone to waste with a false promise from developers.

Extended Cut doesn't help it either because it's just fix an ending not the gameplay or design.

for me, my pick for GOTY is not Halo 4 but if there only 2 choice left between Halo 4 or ME3.
I will pick Halo 4, at least it can live up to hype while ME3 clearly didn't.

With that ending ME3 should be far from GOTY

It was even just ME3's ending that was a problem. The side missions were terrible, the horrible journal, terrible antagonist in Kai Leng, disappointing depiction of the Reaper invasion, the lack of choice in comparison to other games, and I still can't look past the poor facial animations.

mKay, if M3 is going to win something aside golden poo award, something rewarding then we have achieved age where is mark of quality: lot of retcons, killed conversation wheel, autodialogs, bad characters and bad storytelling, core story content in DLC, ignorance, plotholes, cliffhanger endings and well main antagonist introduced in last 10 minutes. If this is mark of quality, than god save me because this is going pretty much downhill.
