Deus Ex and DX:Human Revolution.
System Shock.
BioShock.
Elder Scrolls (well, some of them).
Fallout 3 and NV.
Neuro Hunter.
Gothic.
Thief.
Arx Fatalis.
Ultima.
Borderlands.
Stalker.
And that's the tip of the iceberg. What's more, most of these are much better RPGs than ME where mechanics, choices and path options are concerned. So, why the bigotry against FPS's? Not every FPS is a mindless shooter like CoD and BF. Mass Effect 4 would work amazingly like an FPS, but there should definitely be an option to play third person as well.
And here we go.

I'm sick of TP, it feels so out of tune in this modern day.

Unless it's Portal. I would literally play for fifteen minutes, then lie down for a half hour, just to get through Portal. So worth it, but that was a hell of a game.

First Person Perspective is more immersive, since puts you at eye level with the characters you interact. Just leave the shooter out of it. Its not considered a shooter when you do decisively more then shooting.

Considering BioWare is kind of in the doghouse these days with their fans, the *last* thing they need to is stop doing something most of their fan base has no problem with (third person perspective) to switch to something that would alienate a percentage of their established fan base (first person).
It's just not really a sound move in the end.

Its not about the perspective. The game needs to be well done. Chances are the next installment will use even more shiny graphics, and even less game mechanics. Im not shure that its just the pessimist in me speaking.
I would love to look a charging Krogan face-to-face. (realisticly i would have to look up)

I am 100% down with toggles if they're well done. But that's the criteria. If they're well done, and that's a resource cost. FP and TP perspectives affect FOV and camera at least. I'd rather have one well-done perspective than two half-assed ones for the sake of variety.

voting for that possibility to get a majority in favor of First-Person.
If they do choose to take this direction, it would be more likely to fall in the spin-offy titles than the major titles, i.e. Halo Wars.

I think people just like to assume that any First Person Shooter that comes out has to be like Call of Duty. It's rather annoying.
This. I am not particularly fond of first person camera views, but I can certainly enjoy a game that forces me to use it.

It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the 'mindless shooter' mentality. Spoiler: there are mindless shooters in 3rd person too. The games of your above list I actually played to completion also featured a 3rd person mode (Elder Scrolls, Fallout). The ones I only played halfway before losing interest did not. Deus Ex being the notable exception, though it was 50% of each view.

I've played all the Halo's and other shooters and I must say that 3rd person is my preferred choice. The whole flooting gun thing always felt silly to me and the field of view is restrictive...no thanks.

If you think "most" of these were better than ME when it comes to choices and path options, then your opinion is utterly worthless to me.
BioShock, Thief 1/2/3, Stalker, Ultima Underworld 1/2, Gothic 1/2/3, Arx Fatalis - good games? Yes. Great games? Some of 'em. Good choices and path options? Hahahahaha. No. Get real. Great mechanics? Only Thief and UU. BioShock is painfully mediocre AND has NO real choices, so what the hell? Borderlands is a bad joke for anything but MP fun.
Of the games you list, only Morrowind, DX:HR, System Shock, and Skyrim even remotely compare to the ME games.
EDIT - Also Gothic and Thief 3 are third-person... so what the hell?

Many Mass Effect fans, especially those who have been with the series from the start, like RPG's. They focus on story & character. Combat is just a logical outcome of the conflicts of the story. To them FPS is just about mindlessly running around shooting stuff, and they are not interested. I know that is often a wrong assumption & many FPS games have deep & engaging stories, but that is how some fans feel.
I dislike FPS games because of the first person perspective. Turn on your TV or go to the cinema & you will always see the characters of the story on screen. Contrary to what you might think, letting the player look through the eyes of the character does not make them feel more involved - it tends to distance them from the character. Cut-scenes always jar as they suddenly switch the way the character is viewed. No FPS i have seen (& i have seen plenty) has truly managed to present the world as we see it through our own eyes. We tend to forgive all this because of familiarity with the game style.
Ultimately first person games, although they can be great, offer nothing that a third person game can't also offer. Third person games on the other hand offer so much more in the cinematic presentation of the story (throughout not just in a few scenes) and in the control of & interaction with the lead character.
I don't 'hate' first person games, but however good they may be I feel they could always have been better as third person. So I hope Bioware sticks with the successful format of ME1-3.

I really wish they make this on the next game, that feature worked wonderfully in games like Star Wars Battlefront.Arcian wrote...
