Why should I play ME4 now that Shep is dead?

I didn't play the Mass Effect series for the action. Other shooters do it better. I didn't play it for the story. It borrows from multiple other fictions anyway. I played it for the choices I was allowed to make and how it affected my gameplay experience. But now my Shepard is dead and so are the descisions I've made. We all know that destroying the Reapers, controling them, or causing synthesis won't make it into ME4 because it would just be 3 different games and EAware is too lazy for that. They didn't even bother to wrap up my unique choices in an appropriate ending.

Exactly the same question I've been asking myself. I feel like everything else doesn't matter since I got a broken heart from the endings. A lot expected Shepard to live while others wanted him or her death. If it is a sequel, I hope we'll at least get to see old faces...

Shepard wasn't going to be in ME4 to begin with. ME3 was the end of Shep's journey, they were quite clear on this before ME3's launch.

I won't be getting ME4 because I don't like where the last journey ended up and little to no investment in the universe at this point. Shep is kinda a nonissue for me though, I always knew this was the end.

I don't care about the character, per se, but since my choices were wrapped up in him, they also died with him.

I can't help if others have cynical interpretations. I think Shepard lives. Still, if ME4 is a sequel, I'd rather we not see any of the old crew.

Bioware wanted speculation. They left it open so we could each decide what happens to them. Leave it at that.

Because there's a whole universe of lore out there that's not about Shepard?

A lot of the people who knew that wanted a fitting end for this character.
Those endings weren't satisfactory for them while others liked them.

There are whole other universes in other games. I played ME for the choice I got by playing through Shepard. Now Shep is dead and so are my choices because now I know EAware never cared about them at all.

It's going to be a completely new story focusing on a new threat, crisis or problem, probably in another era of the galaxy and definitely with a new protagonist.
It's also going to be developed by another team (who are just as much into the ME universe as other fans).
I say, lets wait and stay open minded.

If the new game is done correctly (we shall see) then it could give you a new character to invest in and make your own?

Well if that how you feel, then don't play ME4.  I'm not gonna convince you if you already made your decision.

It doesn't matter. What is important for you isn't necessarely important for some people.

1) Shep can be dead or alive. Your choice
2) The next game will not be about Shep. Dead or alive won't matter.

Because the Mass Effect universe does not revolve around Shepard.

It revolves around the player. That's why bioware had choices to begin with.
