Got the digital download from Steam and I got 3 codes (got the pre-order). None of the codes are accepted. So yeah - same problem. It'd be nice if they fixed this....

Same thing here

direct from impulse forums, if you got this from impulse, try this out probably will fix your problems

How to avoid issues and get playing immediatly after download

By TigerL0rd Posted November 3, 2009 6:14:34 PM

hen you get your code, do NOT register the game via the EA or Bioware social website. Simply create your accounts without adding any key whatsoever for now, then leave it be. When you launch the game a window will open asking you to log in into your EA account and then register the game. You can however redeem your DLC items only via the bioware website without any issues. This key was sent to you by e-mail, is 20 digits, and looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

If you register via the site first, the game will say your serial has already been used to register the game when you try to do it via the launcher, and so far, there are no fixes. Some of us have contacted EA Live Support but they escalated the issues and we won't hear from EA for at least a day.

This is known info but burried among topics...

Again:

1. Create EA Account and Bioware account

2. Download the game from Impulse

3. Let the game install

4. Meanwhile, you can redeem your DLC items via the bioware website (but do not register the game). It will tell you the codes cannot be redeemed and that there is an error, while also perhaps simultaneously saying it was successful. Regardless, they'll appear in game even if it gave you an error message.

5. When the game is installed, launch it, log into your EA account, register the game

To redeem your DLC items you need to be IN THE GAME and until Impulse releases an installer, you must manually install an updater service (which the Impulse install failed to do, it's bugged, and is being worked on by Stardocks. To manually install it:

Edit: Zoomba from Stardock released an alternate fix

1. Download http://stardock.cach...mba/service.cmd

2. Copy to C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age Origins\\bin_ship

3. Run service.cmd

Manual methods:

1. Find installuti.exe by searching for it on C: on your OS drive

2. Copy it to C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age Origins\\bin_ship

3. Browse to C:\\Windows and find cmd.exe

4. Riggt-click cmd.exe and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

5. In the prompt type cd .. , c: , cd Program Files, cd Electronic Arts, cd Dragon Age Origins, cd bin_ship (manually browse yourself to it, to avoid mistakes). If it gives you an error that a certain directory cannot be found, type dir to list all current directories in the location you are currently in. 64bit OS users will need to type cd Programs Files (x86) for example.

6. Type in installutil daupdatersvc.service.exe

7. This will install the service

8. Launch the game and download the DLC items. It might be buggy, because EA servers are currently exploding.

9. If you get an access denied error, you are either not logged in as an admin or you did not run the command prompt as an administrator

10. Make sure the service started. Type services in the search box, then Services (local) -> Dragon Age: Origins Updater and look under the status column if it says started. If not right-click the service -> properties -> then press Start, and in startup mode, choose automatic, so that it starts after you reboot and prevent you from manually activating it all the time.

Good luck and have fun for those not waiting for EA to fix the registering problem like me

I got it to work by accident now!!!  What I did was opening the "daupdater" program manually. You find it in your "dragon age" folder under "bin_ship" and then just double click on it to open it.
I started then the game with this program still open, and all off a sudden all downladable items appeared under "download progress".

I just have to click on them and they download now! Finally! :wizard:

I think this should work with most people, who don´t see anything appearing in game under "downloadable content".

P.S.:If you dont have an doupdater program in your "dragon age" folder, you have to follow Antiochrasy post above.

Is this a digital deluxe edition issue? That's what I have too. Do all the people saying it works fine have a non-collectors edition? or a retail box copy?

I have just a regular editio pre-order retail box and I am having the same trouble.

This is how I got it to work.

- Put in redeem code via in game redirect

- Put in game serial on the same profile

- restarted the game

It is not visible in the "Available Content" but it is downloading in the second tab. I only have one redeem code though, but hope this helps.

I've entered my codes too, gotten the green light, but I still have nothing in my downloadable content window. Hoping for a fix soon!

Just a couple FYI the code letters need to be entered as CAPS . Also when I got the code redeemed I logged off and then back on and the downloads started. Hope this helps .

Man, I was hoping for some help here. I got the Digital Delux version from Steam and can't for the life of me figure out how to get the extra content (which I paid 15 bucks for).

Edit: Okay, I figured it out.  I had a 16 digit code pop up in the bottom right of my screen when I loaded the game up via the Steam Launcher.  It's somewhat deceptive in it's wording.

What you have to do first is log into your EA account in-game.  Then, click on the "Redeem Code" button.  It'll direct you to the Bioware page.  You can sign in with your EA account and it'll give you instructions on creating a bioware account.  Once you've done all this, you're finally directed to the Redeem Code promt.

Enter the code EXACTLY as it appears on the Steam prompt.  It's case sensitive and you need to include the hyphins to make it work.

Hope that helps someone else.  Oh, and there's a refresh button that looks like a circular arrow pointed counter clockwise in the Downloads section.  Click that after you've redeemed your code and it'll start the download automatically.

What he said. Alternatively you can find the codes you need via the Steam "My Games" tab. Right-click on "Dragon Age: Origins" and scroll down to "view CD key". If, like me, you pre-purchased the digital deluxe edition you have 3 keys listed: Deluxe, Pre-order, and Deluxe game. Only the first 2 keys worked, which I guess is all that is required. I think the "deluxe game CD key" is the actual CD key and the first two are promo codes. From the CD key page you have the option to "copy key to clipboard" which you can then paste (CTRL-V) directly into the promo code box.

I had first played the game before work around 3:30PM (PST). I was excited just to get started so I didn't even think about the extra content not being there. I got home 2:00AM (PST) and load up my save and was alerted in-game, through the journal that DLC was available. So apparently the DLC wasn't active until many hours after release. That may explain all the trouble.

Two of my downloads (started immediately after clicking the refresh button) failed. But this was easily remedied by clicking on them (in the "download progress" tab of the "downloadable content" screen) and then clicking on the "retry button" in the "details" window on the right side of the screen.

Glad to see it worked, great folks over at impulse got this taken care of, unlike those at ea, posted this to them in a question at 12 am and never got a response, great tech support.

Problem was as it turns out is the dumbasses who repackaged the .exe at ea/bioware wherever, didnt include the 3rd party tool to check the content and to download it, they (in their infinite wisdow) decided to package this as a separate .exe file in the bin_ship folder, but then forgot to include the necessary components to make it work on a lot of the digital downloads. GOOD JOB EA!
