First of all, I must state very clearly that this is a work in progress, and you must absolutely not hold your breath for it to finish.

First off, a little background. I'm a board member of a gaming club called Skedsmokorset Spillforening (a gaming club in Norway) and we have a lot of people who are into roleplaying games. A good bunch of these people also happen to like Mass Effect to varying degrees. Now, I've been toying with this idea for quite some time, and I figured it was about time someone made this.

I don't know how many of the people who are present on these forums will actually care about something like this, but I am utterly in love with the idea of being able to explore the Mass Effect universe beyond of that which we can in the games. Seeing how deep and relatively well thought out the lore is as well, there's a lot of potential for an RPG.

About the project

Currently I am the only person working on this, and it is likely to remain that way. I am however, very open to input from others. Right now, I am specifically looking for suggestions for new items, biotic and tech abilities. Original artwork along with the items in specific would also very much be appriciated.

Additionally, I would very much like to get any ideas people have about different campaigns that could be played. If you want to write an entire campaign, feel free to do so! I realise that it might be difficult without knowing the rules yet, but I promise to make those available as quickly as possible.

Seeing that I am the only person working on this, it will be quite some time before it is finished.

Some things that will be included in ME: TRG:

Meaningful Character Interraction.
Infantry, Vehicle and Space Combat.
Manufacturing of some sort.
Trading.
Puzzle encounters.
Super deep character craftig and itemization.
I am also considering the posibility to have campaigns that could work similar to what is possible in the RPG Alpha & Omega, where you travel out in the world (or galaxy in our case) and establish a colony. I had a lot of fun doing this last time I tried that game. I'll have to stick in some additional skills for this to work though. We'll see.

Here as well I would very much like to hear about what people think would be fun to do in an ME:RPG.

Here. I'll slip you a WIP screenshot of the first page of the character sheet. I'm not a pro at photoshop in any way, but I like to think that I manage just okay. If you want to help me out in this aspect, feel free to let me know. Oh yeah, a printer friendly version will be made available, as well as probably a .pdf or something where you can alter the values digitally.

You might be wondering - What kind of system will the game be using?

Good question! And a difficult one to answer as well I'm afraid. What I can say is that I am making one up for myself, but it will take influence from various other RPGs when and if I find anything suitable. Just make sure to have a lot of different dice available.

A long time ago I had plans for doing a ME:RP.

The game I wanted to base it on was Garry's Mod due to the fact that with LUA scripting you can create even a whole new game from scratch.

Unfortunately that hit the floor after the community IGC has abandoned it due to them being a bunch of corruption.
But still, if you'd like to hear the plans I had and get inspirder a little:

Server 01 [Casual RP] : Universal Colony on the moon of a gas giant, going by the name of EYTIN, Sur'Kesh design but the enviroment is a north pole due to the constant position of the colony itself.

RP Mainly incluides casual living, solving of crimes, overall life upkeeping trough lifesupport and socio economical stabilization.
Once in about 1 or 2 moths we'd scheldue a pirate attack even on the whole server with the admins.

Server 02 [Financial] : The Citadel, nothing more to it, players can do shopping, trading, black marketing or even job hunting here. I have also planned to have politicans meet there. The EYTIN colony representative administrator and the administrators of a few other colonies in the surrounding system (played once again by admins).
It would also serve as a hideout server for when EYTIN is being attacked, so non-combative players that are scared may flee the colony.

Server 03 [Insertion] : EYTIN, being on a unexplored moon, is a constant place for surprises, some of them may be shuttle crashes, parasite attacks, investigations, overall missions.

This place is made to mainly serve a purpose of being the "cannonfodder" to people who want action.

However you have to undergo a training operation and be picked for the EIS [Eytin Insertion Squad].
Members of EIS recieve a significant credit bonus, and some public love.
These units are obeying the commander of EIS, who is recieving orders from the colonial administrator.

The only person the colonial administrator should mind is the colony creator (but that position is rarely used, only in the most dire cases that require admin interaction, as that the character is locked to one OC that was already made up a long time ago).

There was a ME D20 RPG project that was posted here a while ago. Looked nearly done too.
Edit: Found it: http://masseffectd20...25f8ed1ce932f51

Nonetheless, good luck with your project. The character sheet looks amazing and clear, not tightly packed with  all manners of data.

Thanks for the link Gisle.

That ME RPG has one thing I really want to avoid - classes. I'll be sure to take a closer look at what they've done though. There's bound to be some good ideas in there.

I had to add two more boxes to the first page to accommodate my hit system, but it still looks very clean. I'm trying to do my best to keep things simple.

Liiva I think you misunderstood what I'm making. Or I'm misunderstanding you. I found your post to be a little overwhelming.
