I hope this post isn't about last night.XD the lag was on my end. it gets really terrible coz of the ISP, but was hoping it was still bearable. really had to do my best so i wasn't a liability.:P

Oh yeah, I played with you yesterday. xD

It sort of prompted me to post this thread. But this video was uploaded a week ago and I had been intending to share it.

I hope I could make it up to you guys some other time. the lag only usually comes out at night.:P shouldn't be  much of a problem since i think our regions are pretty close.

i was in that game too. i think fantasykill was hosting and he lives in the US

The sad thing is the original Doom had a better MP connect system with ping times etc built in.
Or maybe Quake. Either way It's sad the way its all regressed.

in any case watching you guys tear things up (albeit teleporting all over  the place.XD) was fun :)

Half the problem is lag, half the problem is timezone. I can play reasonably up to 300ms whilst connected to Europe or certain parts of America. The other half of the problem is timezone either filling own lobby or finding one.

I do very much enjoy being the only grenade class on the team . Too bad we didn't get Goddess.

This. And the RNG.

Half lag. Half timezone. All the rest is RNG.

South Island of New Zealand provides similar challenges. Some nights everyone seems to go on line at the same time (you'd think they'd think about me first...). Every game can be lagged badly. Krogan heavy mele is pretty much impossible.

Sniping is interesting. One night I worked out I could get head shots by aiming about a metre to the left or right. The trick was to read which side to go. LOL

I have cable internet . 9ms ping .Great when hosting friends also in OZ but often get comments about what a crap connection I have when hosting O/S players . Joining matches can be a a real lucky dip.- Eastern Europe/Russia possibly the worst . Never mention lag issues to other players unless I am getting downed a lot . More as an apology than a complaint. Incessant whinging from players about lag is annoying. It is unavoidable when playing in most (O/S) games so have to learn to live with it I guess

Nobody understands the BS that we, the ones who truly lag, go through on a daily basis. :crying:

I do.

I forgot I was uploading, joined soulriss' platinum game on geth glacier. So my latency was TOO DAMN HIGH.

I had a lengthy delay on all powers, occasional teleports and ususlly ended up dying round a corner, then teleporting back out into the open.

I let my Aussie friend host all the time. Funny thing is, I lag hard when he hosts but he barely lags when I do. All the same, I try to help a buddy out.

Most likely because his upload speed and latency are horrible and yours are great. :P

Have you all done port forwarding and special permissions through the firewall? I can't say it completely fixed my lag but it sure helped me join games and not get booted.

Of course I have. And port forwarding usually won't help a great deal with lag. It's more to do with fixing connectivity issues like the joining game glitch.

When you have standard ADSL1 with terrible Telstra infrastructure and you get 50+ ms response times to people in the same town as you... you're going to lag when playing with overseas hosts.

A lot. :P

And don't they own all the phone lines Australia-wide?

Not enough facepalms to express my feelings about Failstra.

Wow....I thought I have it bad and I'm in Auckland. South Island connections must be pretty awful...

We're used to it but boy do we know the difference if we get to play the same games overseas. I think adjusting to lag and a heightened sense of situational awareness is what makes Aussie gamers so tough in most games, have you ever seen an Aussie not kick ass? ME3 just happens to be one of the worse for lag, at least in MMOs you can connect to a central server elsewhere.

I do have to admit, the lag here in the US is never bad enough to stand up and go take a walkabout before I can get a decent ping response =P

ADSL1 :o

Fellow Australian denizen here, I should be getting much better Internet this Friday, so I'm looking forward to less rubber banding.
