I want to show them this video.

Nobody understands the BS that we, the ones who truly lag, go through on a daily basis. :crying:

Also:

O...O..O......OH NO...O...O...O.

You're only 20. You still have time.

Trust me, i know that feel........can't even get ADSL1 here let alone anything else.

Satellite broadband...  I wouldn't even bother trying to game on that. You'd be better off with dial up.

Back at my old house we could only get dial up or satellite broadband. :pinched:

The good thing is you have 10 years time before becoming old and in that time Oz might experience an internet Renaissance.

I've played Gold on this and survived......barely.

It's also quite amusing when you outscore randoms on this connection :)

Australia: The Ultimate Hazard Map.

Featuring:
-Ridiculous magnet hands.
-Rubberbanding.
-Rockets and Banshee warp balls that have already hit you before you ever see them fired.
-Teleporting constantly back and forth between two points when out of cover.
-Guns and abilities sometimes completely disabled.
-Super slow movement, as if you're constantly pressed at a slight angle against an invisible wall.
-Enemies not taking damage except from Powers.
-Lying bleedout timers.
-Frequent Ops Pack deaths.
-Rockets that sometimes do nothing.
-Enemies that live two seconds after you've killed them.
-And a growing fear of anyone with "_RU" at the end of their name.

LOL!  The last one was the best. So true, any time I ended up in a lobby where the host was _RU I would just leave instantly.

:D I'm going to put that in the OP.

Lag etc...

I've begun to look forward to seeing what 'hilarious' lag related issue you get each time we play, but I am a bad person so its pretty much what you'd expect from me.

Good job completing 1Mil with lag. Still I'd complain, obvious lag you can record and post it, or just rage quit the game; inconsistent, subtle lag is what kills me.

I'm used to getting a lot of lag when I play with hosts from Eastern Europe/Australia, specially with bad connections.

Yesterday I played an Asari Vanguard on such a laggy game that I had to hold the "3" for almost 2 seconds in order to throw a grenade and I was teleporting around the map constantly. Almost as bad as the video Feneckus posted.

Oh, yes. Aussie Lag, my friend, my companion, my one true love. (Interesting fact, I have, before I moved into the city, hosted a game where everyone left after less than a minute of joining. All game until ~ Wave 5 where I got knocked out. XD)

Thumbs up for those of you that can actually be pro with this stuff. XD

Hoo-boy...

And don't they own all the phone lines Australia-wide?

Not enough facepalms to express my feelings about Failstra.

Damn, it's been a while since I last heard of that company... So it sucks for everyone uh, wasn't just me then... :bandit:

Not so much a aussie issue as a matchmaking one. I know about all these problems listed. Some games are unplayable, and that's with a 100Mb connexion in Paris because i'm being paired with people on the other side of the world too(Singapore hosts sometimes, probably aussies too).
I really wish we had a lag measurement tool with host, or could filter games depending on ping.

This small town in Alaska doesn't offer the best internet. Combine that with hosts who have a weak connection and you'll see Phantoms literally spinning around the air firing their palm guns and upside down enemies floating around.

Wait a minute......I think I played with you not too long ago (Xbox?). I remember because my game was laggy and I was dropped from the game somewhere around wave 7 or 8? I do remember checking the recent players list and saw someone with the name IllusivemanJr and the location was Alaska. Pretty sure he/she was hosting the match.

I fortunately don't get dropped from matches as often as before but lately I've been getting more mixed bag results when hopping through lobbies. Makes me sympathize with Aussies and anyone in Asian/Pacific area, not that I was unaware of these lag issues before. The game really does operate differently when the connection is choppy, and it often takes a sh_t on you in the process.

What I don't understand is why Aussies can't find people near by to play with. I was under the impression that the Asian countries not too far from you are full of mad for it gamers with fantastic internet speeds. Also, there's all those Aussies to play with and one or two Kiwis as well.

Why do you choose baggy games with northern hemisphere servers? Seems like the bad option to me.

Because there aren't actually that many Aussies to play with. Australia is a very small country population-wise. Only 20m people roughly, in a country the same size as the US.

But also:

1. Matchmaking is dumb and not location based
2. Some of us have friends overseas we want to play with

Can't choose teammate locations in a PUG.

Can't use the Friends list because Origin is trash.

Hmm. I have never had one laggy game in ME3 ever. Now, I am in the UK (also a small country) but I generally play pugs so surely I should get a distant server every so often, but I don't seem to. The matching system in Origin always. matches me up with someone with a reasonable ping.

If Origin's matching system has a bug that messes up the matching in your area, try using Peerblocker or a similar utility to block distant (ie. northern) clients from connecting and to block yourself from connecting to northern servers.

If you have distant friends, like me (mate in Aus), you just have to accept that, as Scotty said, 'You canna change the laws of physics, Captain!'. Such is life.
