Nothing, unless they feel like judging me based purely on something that merely shows how often you promote.

Nothing... The truth is that I don't give a damn as long as you don't start saying "I'm +2000, you suck and I'm better than you".

I promote... even before challanges. If I don't there is nothing to be done in MP. I love to reach that next level and see my character become stronger. Tho' having high N7 rank means little to me.

Taking example from myself, high N7 doesn't mean you are the best player there is. It means you love promoting your characters. I've seen people with higher N7 than me which is too good for bronze or silver but know nothing about team play or worse they don't care. They just shoot right and left, act like objectives are for lesser beings, namely other team mates.

So for me, if a player plays this game as intended, like a co-op game they are good in my book. Not everyone should be able to solo gold or platinum... as long as they show they are trying to help the team with their best, I will try to help them back.

Well, I know two.

Well, I can confirm one of these. Are you sure the other is that good? ;)

People argue over promoting/not promoting?

Now that's stupid.

I do it for the respective challenges, and to keep my respec cards, because I don't want those taking up a slot in a pack, because I'd rather get one of those elusive Uncommon Gear cards.

I promote, for the challenge and if I want to respec my character. I have a personal goal, not for bragging rights, but for a personal goal. 12 more promotions and I may stop promoting.

The last time I promoted I was really drunk while playing ME3 multiplayer and I sort of regretted it in the morning. That being said I will do it for fine tuning builds and having a full class respec.

They like to promote; that's what I think. I also think they have a good amount of experience(Not skill) considering they spent their time leveling up their chars.

I 2nd your confirmation Sev lol and I know another one or 2 as well.

Also, I know a really high ranked N7, and honestly, thre isn't much difference between them, they're all incredibly good. I don't believe N7 rank is any indication of the quality of a player. My N7 is +1000, and means absolutely nothing! Most of my friends outplay me on a regular basis. But they love me, so they keep me around lol  :)

Of the people I know, promoters either:

(1) Enjoy leveling up their characters on Silver

^ I'm the exact opposite, I think leveling up or playing Silver is boring and pointless

(2) Like the extra challenge of playing a <10 level character on Gold

^ I don't need this. I play Gold with no equipment and clear PUGs in under 30 minutes. If I want more challenge than that I play Plat with level II equipments.

Loading a low level character with level III/IV equipments on Gold is exactly the same as playing a high level character on Gold. You just waste more of your credits.

Personally I don't like promoting, and I wouldn't be doing it if there wasn't a banner for it. I want to get all the banners for some reason... just like I usually want to get all the achievements in a game.

They also disincentivized promoting for the SP campaign when they lowered the requirements for the ending. I am sure by now I could go directly from Mars back to Earth since my N7 Team is better than the council navies.

That said, I guess I can understand if someone wants to promot because they like rebuilding characters.  When I used to play Gran Turismo I had more fun building up the cars than racing them after they had 1000HP.

I am on the other side being a frequent promoter if I may speak.

I promote because it is fun to play all the levels up. I can vary my builds as I wish and try new weapon combos. Now that our customizations are kept, (thanks BW :) ) it takes less time. It does not waste XP gained from cards or matches.

Low N7 some of them seem to have fragile egos saying the number means nothing and insulting the ones who promote. It helps at a glance if you see an n7 5000 that they put in a lot of matches while an n7 120 could be more skilled, he might not be. I don't bother to check manifests before matches so it helps along with loadout and character level when I play gold plat.

If a 120 has a level 20 fine but no gear = kick or leave for me on gold/pl. I am willing to give benefit of doubt to the high n7 though experience has shown no equips they usually don't use rockets and lesser gels. They won't get a second game if they die out in later rounds (relying on me to carry and use my stuff) rather than help the team no matter how good they are.

I used to do it but got tired of building my character back up constantly I do it every once in a while now but I don't need any more war assets I mostly do it to respec skills. As for people who do it is no big deal if they do

I got to a nice round number and only promoted my characters if there was a promotion weekend so went 300, 600 and then 900.

The reason I never promoted was that I always liked having different weapons loadouts and had all my characters looking the way I wanted and it reset everything on you which was a really pain when you have all the characters unlocked.

I promote now when save up some spacemoney and they release the new characters, as the N7 number isn't in your face any more with the new banners. Only the powers are reset now when you promote too so I don't have to remember which guns where given to each character etc... and the combination of colours I used to get the looking the way I wanted. Also it count towards a challenge too.

As far as other peoples N7 rank I don't really care about it. I'll make judgments like expecting someone with a high number to know what they are doing but I'd never kick someone for a low number, as if they are inexperienced I'd welcome the challenge of trying to get through a game while keeping them alive on whatever difficulty.

Retarded, it pointless. It shows only you are stupid enough to care about a number that only shows how stupid you are.

Or that initially, you played the multiplayer with the single player in mind and wanted the war assets. Or that it's better, sometimes, to respec 6 characters at once than to spend a bunch of cards. Or that you enjoy releveling.

Pull your head out of your ass, **********. There are plenty of reasons independent of N7 ranking.

I sometimes wish I could promote without getting the increase in N7 number. Some people do seem to think high N7 = skill, and I don't like the thought of people thinking I'm a better player than I really am.

I promote for several reasons.
There's the challenge, of course. I do have a hope of obtaining that N7 banner some day. (I'm in no hurry, but maybe some day.)
I enjoy leveling up characters, and trying out new builds. Sometimes I get tired of that and stop promoting for a while, and then I feel like leveling up again and promote all my classes at the same time. I have fun with it.
Promoting and leveling up classes has made me a better player. I don't think people who don't promote are worse player, I'm just saying that for me personally it has helped me improve. I have to think about other things when I'm playing a low level character, and play differently.

When considering whether to play with a group or not I usually don't consider people's N7 much. I look at gear, loadout, and whether they put on equipment or not. I've had more than a few matches with people who are N7 2000+ who run around like idiots and get themselves and others killed, and matches with people with N7 below 300 who kick serious arse.

If the player is N7 43 with an Avenger and no gear I can be fairly sure they're a new player, but if they're N7 80 with a Reegar X they may very well be better than me. If I'm playing bronze or silver I don't give a toss either way; I'll play with anyone. On Gold I do take things into consideration, because I am far from good enough to help pull us through if the team is bad.

I think you are missing a qualifier not necessarily having skill as that implies high n7s have some whcih is false. I agme with many that do and I consider myself quite capable able to play at any level and can solo gold though never tried plat as why waste time doing so as I don't have to puff myself up saying hey I did plat solo. Only did gold to get the banner towards getting all of them. before that there was no incentive for me to go over soling silver.
