Sequal but if you don't know how to pull it off then set it in another galazy. you can easily combine all the ending plots for this one.

A prequell would be interesting. But I'd rather have a sequel, to experience a sort of post-apocalyptic MEverse, trying to rebuild itself with old rivalries seem antiquated and trivial compared to the abyss of galactic of annihilation we faced. With all the homeworlds decimated, and with the power bases of the "old races" (humanity included) no more, it's time for new powers to rise and cease power, with the "old guard" trying to return to the status quo. depending how far into the future the sequel is set we maybe facing a future where the yahgs are a major power trying to conquer the galaxy.

Sequel if done well.
I would prefer a second team not related to ME1-3.Hackett had to have had more than one team out,in case one gets has the flu or a team is killed off or there is a brain aneurism the other team is out there alive and well.
But of the two choices a sequel.
Edit misspelled is.

I'm generally against prequels. Blame George Lucas for that. Gimme a sequel!

I'd much prefer a sequel, but I think BioWare are much more likely to make a prequel. Whether it's the huge number of variables they'd be obligated to carry over from Mass Effect 3 or the fact that they've already faced the scourge of all existence and united the galaxy into a community of peace and harmony and any subsequent storyline would seem superfluous.
I really hope they go sequel, and put a lot of thought and effort into making it meaningful, but I dare not believe that's the direction they'll go in.

as much as I want to say sequel (and by that the destroy ending is the obvious one they choose,..wow how douchey would that be of them!?) I think that prequel will have to be my option. I don't want it to. I like series moving forward, but in Mass Effect 3's case, to make the 4th franchise game work, they would have to choose only one of the endings to continue on.
Unless they want to completely start fresh..then I wouldn't mind that at all by now.

Sequel option always win by a landslide in these polls. Not surprised, shows rather clearly that people want to see what's next, esp. after those endings

I would say a sequel, if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot by making it seem like everything was fine at the end of ME3.
I dislike prequels as a general rule. I have had problems with book that start in the middle of the story and then go back and mess with the beginning of the story. If they do a prequel make it far enough in the past that we have no relation to the current end.

Sequel. Definitely a sequel. I'd love to get a new trilogy... set in Andromeda? Hard to believe some ancient evil able to threaten the galaxy was able to hide out within the Milky Way undetected by millions of years of Reaper cycles. And yes, I do want a new alien faction. Kind of craps on the sense of unity created in ME3 if we break back down into factional war.
