Just an idea I'd been tooling around with for a while.

So basically, this would be a map, let's say each sector is about the size of the top of Cerberus Lab map (forget the name) and on each wave you are fighting in each sector to move to the next all the way towards your extraction.

So rather than fighting continously over the same turf, you're pusing to where you need to go, and the objectives make more sense because it would be like "okay, you made it to this sector, this needs to be done"

Could also liven up things in the long run, each room could cater to a style, maybe you need to move more in one area and the other is good defensively, one is out in the open with only pillars to hide behind, the next is inside with a bunch of places to dunk behind etc.

You could do caves, beaches etc.

Imagine actually fighting to gain territory, rather than fighting just to kill stuff.
