How is it leeching to contribute as much or more to a match than anyone else? Just because I could have contributed more? Does that mean when you play with any character/weapons/loadout besides your very best scorer that you're leeching, since you could have done better?
You are just robbing yourself of the oppo to play with potentially competant players in pugs.

Not really leeching, but I for sure wouldn't play with you a second game if you don't use medi-gel or missiles if the situation calls for it. I also wouldn't send you a friend request either if all you are doing is putting up 80k with how bad most players in public games are.
As for best scorer, I can score extremely well with nearly any of my characters. There are only a couple that I am not great with and those are characters I would only play with friends so I could get more practice without having to worry if the rest of my team is good enough to pick up the rest of what I don't do. What does it hurt to slap a level 1 or 2 amp on and be even a little more productive?
If I see multiple like you in a game I won't even bother playing since it will either be a very long match (pushing 25-30 mins) or I will be carrying the whole game and have it take even longer because I have to kite so much. Also, if you managed a game with any good players you wouldn't score even close to 80k without equipment since everything would already be dead and you would look like a leech even if you aren't exactly leeching.

Any "competant" players will likely kick you if you equip nothing. Most aren't looking to carry someone which is what would end up happening.

This thread is really about spending all your money on maxing weapons/gear instead of using a portion to make sure you're filled up on equipment. People are getting hung up on the idea that not using equipment means you're going to be a bad player, but that's not necessarily the case. I would also like to point out that by only buying PSPs, when I get a gear/mod/weapon upgrade, that is helping my team by allowing me to bring a stronger loadout to the match.

I already said in the beginning of the thread that I've never been kicked from a Gold lobby, and I've played multiple consecutive matches with the same PUG using no equipment. I also don't care if I never get a friend request.

Either way it is fairly rude not to use equipment if you have it when others are using it. I personally couldn't care less if I am with friends since we will likely kill nearly everything anyways. If I am alone though I wouldn't play with a player that doesn't equip when everyone else does, it is typically a sign that person doesn't use any other type of equipment and isn't worth keeping in the lobby.
I used equipment all the time when I was working on maxing my manifest and iit never hurt anyone I know by them using it if that is what you are after. In fact, it helps games go quicker, so quicker games = more revenue for more packs.

Just use a private lobby you elitist.MajorStupidity wrote...
It comes down to a player's personal experience with PUG's. The vast majority I play have players who are quite subpar and require me to be at my A-game to succeed (this includes people who have equipment and those who don't)
If I am pugging without my friends online I will just leave a game without equipment, but if I am hosting with a friend or two and a random joins with no equipment we kick automatically no questions asked. The way I see it is that me and my friends don't necessarily need equipment to succeed at gold, but we put it on just to make the game run smoother and quicker. If we are going to invest equipment into a game we damn well expect the same from other players in the game.
Lots of people play this game w/out equipment so the people we kick can just go find another lobby where they don't care about equipment.

You should wait until they ready up with no equipment before you kick. A lot of people don't put on equipment until they see the lobby so they don't waste it getting dropped into a crappy in-session PUG.MajorStupidity wrote...

Well I hope all you BSNers are using your equipment on Bronze, otherwise you're dirty scumbag leechers. After all, the match could have gone quicker if you had Warp IV ammo, etc.

nah, you are just being cheap... If you win those games you should be swimming in equipment anyways... So you could just as well use it...
This. Why hoard your gear? If you're a regular gold player you can well afford it, I wouldn't play with others in gold who don't equip some gear on themselves.

Buying only SPs and PSPs still gives you enough equipment to at least put on some equipment per match, which would be fine to most people. If you are getting so little that you don't have any equipment at all for some matches, then you must be losing a bunch of your matches, which means you ought to be kicked anyway.

Notice the Gold revives medal? Got that in wave 5. Used 4 rockets by wave 5 to save team-mates grabbed by Pretorians or revive a pile of dead team-mates surrounded by a mob of gleeful Collectors. Come wave 6, I did all the 4 cap objectives by myself and used up my last rocket doing so. Went down in a blaze of glory trying the save the sole surviving team-mate and then realised I was out of medi-gel.
From now on, I am kicking anyone not using equipment on Gold.

Before maxing out my rares, I would only get Weapons/Mods/Gear, and no amps/ammo, so I didn't have a lot of equips.
Using equipments definitely shaved at least 5 min per matches though. So if you have plenty, use them.

After recently picking up my xbox account again, I have to say I sort of understand the OP. I looked at my list of consumables and pretty much everything was in the single digits except for SMG amps, cryo ammo and Targetting VI. Yes, even level 1 consumables. Not to mention all of my characters had crappy specs and most of my ultra rares were under level III. Guess it's a good thing I had the S.p.E.c.T.R.E. X group to backpack me to victory while I promoted and respecced almost everything. I'm probably going to have to spend a day buying nothing but JEPs if I want to keep playing that account.
You were far from carried IMO, you still played very well despite rust, connection, and lack of good equipment. You still used whatever you could when you could and you will get more as you play more, so why not help if you have any? If you are legit out it is different, you can't help the store not giving you any aside from getting Jumbos (which everyone should invest in on occassion at least).
If nobody else is using it (or only 1 with level 1's) I would have no issue. However, when 2 or 3 of your teammates show a clear investment in the game by using level 2 to 4 equipment it is rude not to if you have it (even if it is only level 1's that, anything is better than nothing in my eyes).
