He agreed to marry Anora, her father became a gray warden, Alistair didn't like it but got over it. Anora talked to him and said she was pleasantly surprised and that he reminded her of Cailan and she thought they could make a go of it. After Loghain sacrificed himself Alistair agreed that it was a good thing that he died this way. According to the ending notes, Alistair and Anora were popular and Alistair began taking an interest in ruling, attended some of the many meetings Kings have to go to.
Since I can not have an Alistair love ending without sending him to Morrigan, this is the ending I have come to prefer. I like Alistair and want him to be happy.
It is not possible to have Alistair and Loghain as party members.

I agree! I'd like to recruit Loghain and keep everyone too (though, if you read the Stolen Throne it appears that Loghain does enjoy killing). Hmm.
Truth be told, I am NOT happy with any of the endings for Dragon Age: Origins when you're a female character in the game in a romance with Alistair. You either: sacrifice yourself and lose Alistair, or you let him sacrifice himself and lose Alistair, or you let the man your character loves **** some skank and give her a demonic child (no good can come from this child, I don't care what anyone says) so that you can both live and still be together - and this is the ONLY way. It bothers me to no end. I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't allow my boyfriend to sleep with another woman and have a child with her to save my life in real life. Anyone else agree, or is it just me? That is why I would appreciate Bioware letting me know if Anders and Nathaniel will be romanceable in future games (I've already gotten a 100 love approval from Anders, so I am hoping). If they become romanceable in future games I have EVERY intention of letting Alistair die at the end of Origins EVERY time. That way...the Archdemon is dead, my girl still lives, the Blight is over (or so we thought) and that evil ***** Morrigan doesn't get to sleep with my girl's man and acquire her demonic baby, who I only assume will bring a whole new kind of evil to the world. Truth be told, again, I prefer Anders and Nathaniel as characters to Alistair. It was very hard going back to romancing him in the original game after playing Awakening with Anders and Nathaniel - I missed them a great deal and finally realized that, yeah, Alistair isn't the cream of the crop in the world of Dragon Age.

I am also not happy with it. I finally put up my own personal rant blog explaining my reasons. I've actually stopped playing DA and sold my xbox copy. Keeping the pc version in the hopes that the mod will eventually be made that will fix it. I'll just play ME 1 and 2 until then.

yes, me too. I'm also not happy with any of DAO's endings. but think about it, DAO gives the players some options but still wants to keep this as a sad war story - not that a happy war story is not possible - if the player can recruit all races together in a matter of months and also gain enough power to kill the archdemon in these months.

1. Will Anora marry you if you have Alistair duel Loghain? He automatically kills him, so it shouldn't affect her opinion of me. Right?
2. If you plan on marrying Anora, can you harden Alistair, spare Loghain, and still protect him from becoming a wandering drunk?
3. Which specific conversation options should I avoid in order to ensure that Anora doesn't turn on me in the Landsmeet chamber?
4. Can you duel Loghain yourself, have Alistair execute him, and still marry Anora? If so, will this affect her attitude towards you later?
5. Is there any way to build up any romance with her at all (in the game), or at least have a warm relationship?
Thanx.

Right. Let Alistair duel Loghain, he will execute him. Anora will still marry your Warden.
2. If you plan on marrying Anora, can you harden Alistair, spare Loghain, and still protect him from becoming a wandering drunk?
No. The only way to keep him around is to make him marry Anora. And even then he will not forgive the Warden, it's a duty he can focus on that prevents his running away.
3. Which specific conversation options should I avoid in order to ensure that Anora doesn't turn on me in the Landsmeet chamber?
Do not tell her you intend to kill Loghain. Do not tell her you support Alistair.
4. Can you duel Loghain yourself, have Alistair execute him, and still marry Anora? If so, will this affect her attitude towards you later?
Yes, that's possible. No, she will only refuse the one who wielded the sword not the one who decided the execution.
5. Is there any way to build up any romance with her at all (in the game), or at least have a warm relationship?
Not really. You only have a few lines with her and it's a political marriage. She's intrigued by the awesomeness of the Warden but she also makes it very clear that she wants to rule and the Warden is not going to take this away from her.

There is one thing that's been bugging me for a long time. Can't find an answer to it anywhere.<br />
<br />
What happens if you: Kill Loghain, make Alistair king and let him rule alone (thus imprisoning Anora) and then sacrifice Alistair? Then Ferelden will have no regent at all. I know it is possible to do this allthough I've never tried myself.
me too i wonder if anyone could try that maybe i will when i finish my last playthrough with dwarven noble

I've done that. Anora will become Queen when Alistair dies.

He says something like "Who is this viper that replaced my fellow Grey Warden?"<br />
One of the funniest dialogue options there is when Anora proposes executing Alistair, you can either plead for his life, grudgingly agree that his death is for the good of the kingdom, or say "It's about time!" (Sadly the latter two options seem to have the same outcome)
I just finished anouther play through with a human F noble with them getting married. Now going to do a Male Noble who is basicly going to be worse than logan....except he hates mages. I so can't wait to hear this line since I have never keep Logan alive in all my playthroughs before in the past. Oh and I plan to marry him to Anora, I'm sure if he didn't disappeare at the end of the story she would end up accidently hurt or something after bearing his first son....cause he's cold like that lol.
