the way that bioware can handle the next game being a sequel, seen as how the three (or four) options at the end leave the galaxy in completely different states (regarding technology), is to make the next game so far into the future that the technology would be pretty much the same, no matter which ending you chose (destroy, control, synthesis, or refuse). The only difference would then be whether the reapers are still around or not.
If the next game is a prequel, there is really no point in making the player's choice matter because the outcome is already known (especially if it is durring any previous cycle).
