Dunno if this is the right forum to ask such a question, but in lack of better ideas... :-)

I've recenty played DA2 and read the first book from Gaider (Stolen Throne), and wonder:
Are there any modules out there that actually build upon the "official storyline" of David Gaider's?
Or: Are there any "Canon" DAO modules out there, modules that if they don't build upon it, at least don't go against said storyline?

I'm thinking like Alley of Murders - great small mod set in Denerim and nearby, works fine. Quests and Legends on the other hand - while it is very good mod, make no mistake - doesn't work that fine, as it introduces several new places at least I haven't heard of, and also a few gameplay tweaks that breaks the immersion somewhat.

What I'm looking for is quest mods that are easily integrated into the main storyline of either Origins or Awakening.
I've been somewhat inactive for some time, so I may have missed some really cool stuff.
But a quick browse through both the projects site here, as well as DA Nexus, found me these:

* Alley of Murders
* Tombs of the Undead
* Spiders and Knives
* Swamp Tower

So, any suggestions beyond those?

Those are certainly the most well-known. From what I recall, most modders will mention if theirs contradicts cannon or not. For example, Trouble in Rainesfere states on the page "I consider this a lighthearted "loose-canon" mod, with references to
canon topics, but not attempting to adhere to the general tone and lore
of DA:O."

The modder who mad Swamp Towe also made Pints and Quarts, Infested Grounds, and Ancient Elven Ruins, all of which I hear are good and "lore-friendly".

Unfortunately, I've not tried any of the quest modules, so I can't give a greater recommendation than what looks good or canon-friendly. But it's been three days since you posted and it's a fair question, so you deserved some kind of answer.

I did not find the mods by the modder who made Swamp Tower, Pints and Quarts, et al, to be very canon friendly, sadly. Uninstalled the Pints and Quarts right in the middle of the first quest where I go to clean out a noble's infested mansion, and there's a broodmother in the place, on the surface, erm, no.

Ser Gilmore, both for Origins and Awakening, are about as lore friendly as it gets - so much so it almost feels like it was part of the OC - you just have to accept a reality where Gilmore was not killed outright by Howe. And since you really don't know his fate, it works.

Alley of Murders fits very well into the lore, and was fairly well-implemented and written.

Return to Korcari Wilds is very lore friendly - sadly also very full of grammar mistakes that spoil the immersion just a little. And an NPC companion (Douglas) that starts out intriguing, and falls short of the development and storyline he had the potential for, but still good for an extra canonical crawl.

Toms of the Undead is THE absolute best written and implemented lore-friendly mod I've played.

Seige on Hilltop has a few bugs, but it's got beautiful custom areas and fits neatly enough into the storyline of the OC and makes enough lore references that it works. And it's a fun play through at low levels.

Spiders and Knives, while supposedly part of the now-defunct "community canon" project, is not really that Canon. Neither is Dark Times Act 1 - if for no other reason than because the developers seem to have been oblivious that Ferelden is a southern continent, rather than northern, so the area of their setting is essentially in Thedas' equivalent of Antarctica — except it's treated as being closer to the equator. So, no, not canon.

Playing my first time thru Quests and Legends. And yes, there's serious lore-breaking continuity issues. At one point you find "Duncan's favored sword." on a Darkspawn in Minas Ioth. But, his sword and dagger were left buried in an ogre at Ostagar — which you in fact retrieve during the Return to Ostagar DLC. Honestly, the entire Minas Ioth storyline is pretty canon-breaking so far. But I'm looking forward to Antiva City, and other lore areas you can explore. Also, getting to own your own thieves or warriors guild is a cool bonus mini game that harkens back to the Baldur's Gate series.

Haven't tried Bloodworks — also supposed to be a Community Canon mod, probably do that on my next play through.
