Mass Effect has been the greatest game series I have ever played in my lifetime. At first I never payed any attention to the series (this was back in 2007/2008). It wasn't until I watched a small TV add for ME2. I was immediately sucked into the series the moment I watched the gameplay and held the controller for myself. For more than 2 years I have been awe inspired by such a powerfully cinematic story, enjoying every moment, and liking every character.

When I finished ME3 for the first time, I was sad, because the story had ended. I have never been touched by an ending for a video game before. I mean, yes...there are lots of people who were....and who are still disappointed with what they have witnessed at the end of ME3. I enjoyed every moment, including the ending I worked to achieve.

I can only express my thanks with these simple words.

I know many people are going to call me some drone, because I don't have hate like they do, but whatever. I don't give a damn.

Thank you BioWare.

And you shouldn't give one. No matter how biased someone's choice of words come off as regarding Mass Effect, I can't say someone's opinion on a game is inherently 'wrong'. How they perceive and experience said simulated world is their own personal journey, and that can't be taken away from them.

While ME3 may not be considered the 'best game ever' made by either myself or most fans, I still enjoyed it a great deal.

So thanks. And stuff. o_O

While I disagree a lot with you, I am glad you enjoyed it as much as OP.

whilst i hate the endings with a passion, i do not hate people simply because they like it, i can only hate things that they do, namely; telling me that i am inherently "wrong" in my opinion.

glad you liked ME3 OP, i did too (ending aside) and i still do.

just feel as though everyone deserves a better ending thatn the one we got.

Yep! And likewise - though I actually quite liked the ending, I can't blame anyone for disliking the ending, it's not like they chose to, and I don't hate anyone for hating it, it's just the idea that people should dislike the ending, or that people are wrong for liking the ending that I take offense to. Fantastic post!

And if you want, you can replace "the ending" with "Mass Effect 3 in general" in my last paragraph, and it still works. Love the game to bits, and while the ending wasn't flawless, it worked on me. I do wish everyone else could see it the way I do... but if they can't, hey. As long as nobody's cramming their opinions down my throat, they're cool by me.

Having an opinion of your own doesn't make you a drone.
Not everone will agree on everything. It's one of the joys of life. Diversity of opinion.

So lets give freedom of thought a round of applause!

I loved Mass Effect trilogy aswell. All three games.

The ME trilogy is kind of the main reason why I still play video games. No disrespect to Dragon Age, but Mass Effect was the reason why I gave gaming another chance. There's not a whole lot of other games I play, but I can certainly say the Mass Effect trilogy is my favorite of all time. It'll be a heart-breaker not seeing Ash Williams in the next game, or hearing Garrus tell you he has your back, but I think we can all find solace in the fond remembrance of characters who have grown to be more than simply video game characters. I've met some new friends through this whole process within the Mass Effect community and I've enjoyed the ride. So, thanks Bioware. And thanks for the positive thread, TC.

This thread makes me happy.

I love Mass Effect more than anything in the world, and the last 7 months have been crazy. So much hate, so many people abandoning the franchise...

I still love you Mass Effect, and I always will.

I'll join in on the choir of happiness. I hated the ending to ME3, but loved the game, and the series as a whole, overall. The games had flaws, sure, but that didn't get in the way of my enjoyment. You should be free to give your opinion on something and be respected, as long as you are respectful as well.

BioWare has my thanks too :)

It is interesting to see how people got into Mass Effect. I got in because of a really positive review on gamespot. The game has sucked up a lot of my time (I got 6 Shepards), but it is some really good sci fi.

Well - thanks :)

Think you guys know that I'm what others might call "entitled" - or at least really invested. Defending this series and it's core is a fight as hard as dealing with the Reapers for Shepard. And despite all things I said about ME3, it still had some good parts. Not everything was done wrong. The first half was quite powerful, especially the plot dealing with the Krogans, the Turians, the Cure and such. That was really good story telling, reminding me what makes this series so powerful.

Too bad at some point time and budget ran out. It showed - and ME3 didn't end the series it should have. It doesn't feel like a complete, perfect (in the meaning of storytelling) ending ...

Still: the series is still reference. It's as much reference as the first Deus Ex, the first Doom, the first Command & Conquer. ME defined a new genre - one that can be expanded in a lot of directions. That new genre is "full experience": how many other games allow you to be a Captain of a crew, a frontline soldier, a badass hero, a diplomat ... and all that? Think there are not many.
Despite the flaws, it's still a good trilogy. And I wonder if BW can pull the stunt once more and create a second ME trilogy.

I know I won't see Shepard again. I know Ashley won't return. I know the first trilogy is done, nothing new will be added, except by some DLCs. But I doubt we're going to see much more than 2 or 3 more big DLCs after OMEGA. And then, the story is done. Shepard's tale is told.

But maybe the new main character is as much interesting as Shepard? Maybe there's a new romance that fits as much as Ash did for me in the first trilogy? Who knows.

Ignoring all the flaws (my goodness, so many little ones and a few big ones) I'll generally agree that ME3 was a good game.

Just not as good as ME1 or ME2. Which kinda sucks, since you'd hope the end of a trilogy would be the best part. But then I feel the same way about the Lord of the Rings movies and The Matrix (though in the case of Matrix Revolutions I actually dislike it).

I only hope ME4 is decent, and isn't a prequel.

Yeah, I'd definitely say 3 was the worst game in the series - though to say it's the worst doesn't mean it's bad. It was just outclassed in characters, story, dialogue, combat, and pretty much everything else by either 1, 2, or both.

My opinion of all the games varies. Like, I'll hate one character, then they say something fantastic and I love them. Like Tali, I completely flip-flop on my opinion of her all the time. My latest playthrough I'm learning to love Liara.

I just get something new out of the games every time I play. I'm an absolute fanatic.

I very much enjoy the entire series...

I started with ME 2 at the time DA II was released and they gave away a copy of ME 2 as part of a celebration of the two games coming out at near the same time.

I actually ignored Mass Effect because when it was released, it was only for XBox and Play Station or something like that, not for PC. By the time ME 2 was released, though, it had been released for PC.

After playing through ME 2 a few times, I began to wonder about the original game, and finally bought it. It felt awkward at first because the controls were quite different ME 2, as were the skills and such, but I grew to love the original as much as ME 2. I pre-ordered ME 3 as soon as a had a few bucks saved up for it, and have no regrets at all. I've been getting as much enjoyment out of ME 3 as I have had with the first two versions.

On the whole, Mass Effect has been an excellent series for me, I continue to go through and create new characters then play them through the entire series, much like I did with the Baldur's Gate, and Neverwinter Nights series of games.

I am pleased enough with the series that when the ME Trilogy was released, I picked up my copy from my local Game Stop on day one of the release. Now, just like I did with Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, I have two complete sets of each game. That is just something I do when I want to show my appreciation for the enjoyment I get from an excellent game series.

It is definitely the best series I've ever been apart of.

My top games:
1. Mass Effect 3 - the only video game that has ever made me produce man-tears.
2. Mass Effect 2
3. Mass Effect 1
4. Others don't matter because nothing comes close.

I have a dream...that one day...people will stop substituting criticism for the word "hate". This forum would sound a lot less arrogant if people did.
