I'll agree with the few people who've mentioned this above - don't go for more than 4 points into fitness and simply forget about the last two shield evos. You will not notice any difference in the amount of damage your shield will be able to take if you take that option and you shouldn't let enemies get close enough for you to have to use the shield as a CC tool (cryo shield). If it's a phantom that's on you, just hit it with an acolyte and snap freeze it so it gets slowed down. From then on she's easy pickings.

People who don't use incinerate in their builds are overlooking the most powerful cryo explosion factory currently in the game. All in one character. So long as you take the 100% tech damage boost on snap freeze and the 100% damage boost to frozen/chilled targets on incinerate, you have an insane amount of aoe damage that works against all defenses, all the while debuffing the target.

Cryo Blast doesn't have that last 100% tech damage evolution. It's that + the instant cast, undodgable aoe stagger that snap freeze provides that actually make the paladin so good.

Just to note...
Snap freeze 100% tech combo evolution is bugged. Don't work.

If it doesn't work, how come do my paladin's cryosplosions do much much heavier damage and detonate so much more than the ones I set up with cryo blast on my QFE if incinerate's specced the same way?

Unless cryo blast is just bugged :<

It seems to me that both of these upgrades are pointless, any reason to go for them?

They prime the targets for FEs and CEs
I almost never use the paladin's heavy melee.
Shield bash with light melee and use a power to detonate

Fire-shield + snap freeze is my combo... For some reason snap freeze doesn't want to activate fire explosions when I use incinerate first, but it always does when I hit them with the fire-shield. Shield punch - snap freeze - energy drain... Repeat until crispy /and/ frozen.

Actually Snap Freeze is bugged to always yield 200% damage Cryo Explosions, regardless of the non-functional bonus damage spec.

Also, I like Flame Shield versus Dragoons, and just find it fun, but find 6/6/6/4/4 more overall flexible.

Four points in Incinerate, four points in the damage passive, max everything else. I usually go Fire Shield, haven't tried the Cryo shield yet though. :I

Well that explains a lot. Time to get me an extra 15% power damage then.
