I'll start off with an Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer (assuming I can find the specializations).

Mage is certainly first on my list as well. The only thing I'm not certain on is what spells to focus on and what specialization though I'm leaning towards Bloodmage or Arcane Warrior at the moment.

I can't decide either..first I don't have enough info to choose..second I'm not smart enough.
I like the shapeshifter idea but It makes my char feel less...cool...the fact that Morigan is already a shapeshifter..

Same here. I do hope casting animations will differ depending on what type of weapon you are using. Otherwise I won't even be able to complete a mage playthrough. Stuff such as animations or armor design is very important to me. Even to a point that I stall the game just because of poor looking clothing.Nikblade wrote...
I dislike the casting animations. When casting multiple times back to back it looks like you're leading a parade with the staff you're carrying.

My character will be an Arcane Warrior who latter becomes a Blood Mage.

I love mages. And i will probably be a entrophy mage myself the first time. Depends on what build morigan is and if i can change it and so on and so on...

Mage WOULD be my first play through, but I really want an arcane warrior/spirit healer, so I'll be playing a warrior first time through, to unlock all the specializations.

I'm leaning toward arcane warrior depending on how the stat play out.

<------- My mage Alric would go through the Arcane Warrior path. As for spells I would go for Creation, Fire, Spirit, and any odd spell that catches my fancy.

Female Elven Magi ~ Spirit Healer / Blood Mage
Spells...
*Arcane Bolt / *Arcane Shield / *Staff Focus / *Arcane Mastery
*Heal / *Rejuvenate / *Regeneration / *Mass Rejuvenation
*Mind Blast / *Forcefield / *Telekinetic Weapons / *Crushing Prison
*Walking Bomb / *Death Syphon / *Virulent Walking Bomb / *Animate Dead
*Disorient / *Horror / *Sleep / *Waking Nightmare
*Drain Life / *Death Magic / *Curse of Mortality
*Drain Mana
Thats 24 spells which should be around the cap if you get three at Level 1 and 1 more per level.
*Arcane Bolt + two of your choice at level 1.
My plan is to start out as a pure healin goody two shoes and slowly descend into Evil from the horrors of battling the blight.
I'd just like to point out how liberating i find this new magic system compared to old DnD rulesets. I always play a Rogue type who is out for himself but the flexability of this spell selection system has me quite excited to make my first run a caster job.

I'm definitely going with the Primal spec. Nothin' like nuking your enemies into a mushroom cloud. =P

I plan on making my mage a shapeshifter, grabbing all four talents. For spells I plan on getting the Hex, Drain Life, Walking Bomb, and Drain Mana spells lines. The synergy between those four lines is insane. The next four points go into maxing out the mage talents and one rank of healing. My second sub class is going to be a Spirit Healer for the Magic and combat healing bonus. According to my theorycrafting, the result should be a mage who exels at debuffing and self healing, who can deal decent AoE damage and great single target damage. Now watch me play the game and find out my planned character is worthless.

my first play through will be a mage primarily focused on debuffs/entropic magic and I will take the blood mage specialization

I'm really looking forward to playing Mages in this game just because of the interactive spell effects and the fact that the friendly fire mechanisms really lend them a need-to-be-skilled nature. A bad Mage will do as much harm as good, and it should help them feel very powerful and unique even on a second or third playthrough of the game.
Personally I am playing a Human Mage my first time through, and plan on making him an Arcane Warrior / Blood Mage. He will walk a fine line between the darkness and the light, let me put it that way. *Grin*

My first character is a mage and I think I'm either going to try for Shapeshifter or Arcane Warrior and be a Blood Mage on my second playthrough. I usually end up playing some sort of "Magic Knight" in RPGs, but I can't pass up the ability to turn into a giant spider.

Mages, oh yes. Blood magic seems so appealing because of the forbidden nature of it ... most "outlawed" things or ideas have some sort of strange appeal. And since we Grey Wardens need to explore all weapons against the Blight ...

I was under the impression that that is what Morrigan is...correct me if I'm wrong.

I've already created a human male mage for my second playthrough... the idea of the background of the mages is wonderful, and I really like the concept of spellcombos... plus the animations are stunning. : )
Given the character of my mage I am still not sure whether I should focus on entropy or primal spells... some of the spirit spells could fit him as well. I guess I'll decide after I've finished my first playthrough with Daedhe, and have seen the spells in action...
For the specializations I'll probably either pick bloodmage or shapeshifter or none. Depends on how I level up Morrigan, I suppose, and how much I benefit from the specialization.

going toward the shape change route myself there is something highly erotic about shape shifters in romance/sex that is interesting.

i almost always play a mage/wizard if that's an option (atleast for the first play through).
This time, will be going for a bloodmage, not so much in order to be evil, but because i like the idea of paying for the power upfront (large rituals, blood sacrifices, rare materials and hard to make ritual tools), instead of just waving your fingers and making stuff go up in fire (wich is nice too, when your powerfull, but any truly powerfull, awesome and complicated effects should come with a cost, in time, money or blood (yours or someone elses))

Arcane Warrior is the only one I find appealing. Blood Mage slightly so.
Shape shifting creeps me out for some reason. I kinda wish there was an EXTREME primal focus.

Check this link...
http://dragonage.wik...ki/Spell_Combos
In Dragon Age Journeys the Hurlock Emissary casts a spell called *Shockwave that knocks back everything around it and does like 35-50 damage as well as stunning it.
Could this combo be an AoE *Mind Blast that does moderate damage while keeping the stun?
I think i'm in love.

... now that sounds very intriguing.Shockwave
Cast Force Field on yourself/ally, then Crushing Prison on that self/ally
