MY mage is arcane blood. i fight thru sustains. and use only walking viral bomb ad death cloud as my casteing spells. I were a plate helm (the one with +2 to stats*winged
), sheild, arcane warrior sword, plate boots and gloves. i dont use the hp from corps sustain. but i do switch between the diffrent wep buffs. If u think unholy dk from wow thats how im set up. 45 base magic and will then the rest to stm. then i have a quake fire storm solo mage. fire blast>quake>fire strom *BOOM* come of cold for the mobs who think there gona touch me

It's a tricky choice... Shapeshifter is a nice idea, but it doesn't go well with mage as a specialised form since the shapes don't have either aoe or heals or strong cc. Bear looks about the most useful as a way of extending a long fight as a last resort.
That leaves Arcane Warrior (more armor is always good), Spirit Healer (whole party heals, tasty), or Blood Mage. The goody-goody combo would be Arcane Warrior + Spirit Healer, and I think that's the way I'll go... probably take warrior first.

Well, when I played circle of doom I got hooked on a Warrior/Mage character so my mage will be Arcane warrior with a dab of Spirit to heal.

Hoping the mages gets a buff in DA2. I found them to be really weak. Ended up just using them a support class. Felt to much like the adpet from mass effect on. Good for support sucks at dps.
