I dislike the first person view. It gives me a headache and I played Skyrim and Fallout:NV almost fully in third person. Portal games triggered massive migraines, but the fun was worth the pain.
Anyway, just for personal health reasons, I don't want a first person camera to be necessary for anything. An option, however, is a reasonable idea. Being able to play Skyrim in third person enabled me to try that game, so maybe having a first person view in Dragon Age would reel in players who prefer that style. I'd still like Bioware to focus on perfecting the DA3 gameplay in third person. They should try adding a first person camera only if they have time.
Would you want a first person camera option for exploring?

I usually prefer to see the character I've created, so first person view is generally not high on my list of wanted settings. Even in Skyrim I always played in 3rd person.
I mean, hell, I spent three hours modeling my character to perfection. I wanna see her, goddammit.

This would not be on my wishlist.

Skyrim proved that there is no reason why games cannot have both 1st and 3rd person perpectives and be fully playable in both. What I do not want to see is BW implementing multiplayer options as this takes a huge chunk of the development budget away from the single player experience and makes for a shorter game with more cut corners, leave SP games as SP games.

Toggle if anything. I don't want to touch it, myself, but if other people prefer it then sure.

How should this work on PC in a combat? In Skyrim you have direct control. You press the mouse button and the char uses the weapon or blocks, like in an FPS. In DA you click on an enemy to attack him and then it is auto-attack.
The game would have to disable the first person view in combat and furthermore you would also need a use-key for interactive objects.

I have no desire for 1st person view. I like seeing my character running around.
Perhaps it could be useful for Skyrim-like sneaking and archery, but if those mechanics don't appear in DA3 then no.
I'd be very happy with it if it stays like it is in DA2.

I'll add a no. It really brings nothing to the table other than forcing me to spend a lot of effort moving my field of view all over the place to "see" what is around me.
I note you say for exploring but any "view" is also part of combat and FP view combat for melee 100% sucks.

Adding first person would mean they have to do more of an area then in first person, dont reall need to think about roofs in buildings and the like with just 3rd person.

NO! This would be the only deal breaker for me. I simply dislike first person games unless it's some kind of shooter and I really don't play those often. The main reason that I never played Elder Scrolls, Skyrim etc. If it's something optional like M.Caliban suggested it would be acceptable.

Personally, no. Never liked first person games. I play only in third person in all games including Skyrim, Morrowind, Oblivion and so on (fortunately they have this mode). In theory if there will be a first person camera, I won't use it anyway.

noone mentioned FP for combat. It would be awful and would alienate the game. Just for admiring the enviroments however would be good i guess

As long as the first person view is entirely optional I don't have a problem with it.

I`d like it to stay as close to other Bioware games as possible. A first person camera won`t give me that.

In a game like Skyrim, I only play in 1st person view. For Dragon Age, nope. An overhead cam and the dialogue cams are good. Just lets us actually zoom out the overhead cam enough for use in tactical situations.

an overhead cam would be way better, I agree. Being able to zoom out and get an overview of the battlefield was sorely missed in DA2.

Clearly I prefer 3'rd person camera, I never use 1st person view. I want to see my warrior in all his/hers splender. Especially I want to see the character I've created, and I want to see the armor I've got on.

don't copy skyrim.. Dragon age isn't skyrim... its dragon age... 3rd person view totally!

I happen to like playing games in first person. I choose that option, and stay in that view, whenever a game offers it. That being said, I'm going to totally contradict myself by saying that I agree with folks about keeping 3rd person view for DA. One of the reasons I didn't care that I was in 3rd person for the DA games is because of the combat. FP is well and good if you only have to worry about yourself (and maybe one, usually annoying, follower) but to maximize combat for a party, you can't beat that 3rd person view. Honestly, I could care less if they added FP. I'd rather see time spent elsewhere.

I would like the tactical camera back (isolmetric overhead view). Keep first person for FPS.

No. I hate first-person perspective with a passion. The only reason I ever use it in a game is if the targeting is screwy and I'm making a long-distance shot.

With the Elder Scrolls games, I stick with first person view 99% of the time because I find it to be more immersive seeing the game world through my character's eyes. It helps me feel as if my character and I are one.
I wouldn't mind seeing something like a first person mode in Dragon Age, even if third person was required for cut scenes and the like.

Even in games like Skyrim or New Vegas, I play in 3rd person view 99% of the time (sometimes you need FP view to pick something up), so no, I don't want it, don't need it.
