So I've decided I want to play through the game on nightmare naked, unarmed and solo, and I've decided that doing so as a mage or a rogue would be way too easy because mages cheat with spells and rogues have combat steath. :wizard:

So far I've come up with:

Race: Dwarf

Origin Story: Dwarf Noble

Skills: Want to pick up poison making + trap making + finish maxing out combat training.

Talents/Specs: I've decided that beserker/templar are the best specs to go with for this build, was considering reaver but I think templars resist/knockdown/anti-mage in general will work better than a little extra melee damage.

Obvious talents include Powerful -> Death Blow and Precise Striking -> Perfect Striking warrior talent lines.

What I'm looking for aid with:

Stats: I have yet to decide how I want to go with stats, I was considering pumping strength at the start until maybe 30 and then put the rest into dex and constitution. I was also considering some points into magic for making potions work better.

There's also the possibily of pumping just constitution and relying purely on grenades/traps for damage, putting some points into magic for potions. Strength is mostly just to get past the origin story until I can start buying materials for said items, in which case I'm yet to figure out just how much I need for this.

Skills: I'm still yet to decide which order to pick up my skills in as I level/aquire tomes/progress through the story/etc, and most noteably which skill to pick first...

Since I'll start with Combat Training x2, I could pick up the third slot right away for a small bonus to attack (note that I'll have both the Powerful and Precise Striking talents though, but this leads to the fourth slot which grants a bonus to armor of which I do not know the amount of), or pick up a point in either Poison Making or Trap Making to make use of the Origin Story grenade/s or trap/s.

Anyways, I think that about covers my issues at the moment; I plan on using a party member in camp to create salves and health potions for me (I don't think that counts as cheating at soloing, right?).

So yea, lets make this a group effort shall we?

Edit: I'm also unsure as to how much cunning may or may not help were I to pick it up for armorpen, I'm also unsure if armorpen even works for unarmed folks, any info regarding these would be much obliged. =]

By naked and unarmed, does this mean you will also do without amulets and rings? I assume so, but I admire your gall to try something that seems so... painful. I would rather just force yourself to use the lowest level of a weapon, say a elm shield and iron mace, or somesuch, just simply so you could dabble in the other trees.

As far as stats go, forget constitution. Your battles are going to be taking forever, and as long as you have some strategy to fight mages, I would go for raw dexterity. Your damage is going to be virtually nonexistant, but if you max dex, you should be virtually unkillable, even while naked.

You won't need more than, what, 22 strength for all of the non-weapon warrior talents? I forgot, since I always have enough by the time the level requirement is off. But besides that, go dex. And forget magic. From what I have seen, all it does is make potions heal for 1 point more per point over 10 that you have in magic. Yahoo, 40 magic means my smallest potion heals for double. Not worth the investment. Its probably just to help those mages that don't invest in willpower and just suck down pots a bit.

Fair enough on the potions point, never really looked at it properly before.

Yea I plan to go without amulets and rings also, I considered going with low level weapons but I enjoy the idea of fisting an archdemon to death and loling about it. :D

I put my 2h warrior to naked earlier and managed to kill an alpha ogre w/ some shrieks in shales craig so that was funny, he was hitting for arond 61-100 damage per hit depending on if he hit the ogre or shrieks, he has 81 str naked and only took around 66 damage per hit back from the ogre itself which was easily healable with all the pots he had collected from nothing more than loot drops thus far.

I like the idea of going dex, I should get good damage out of throwing a ton of grenades around and presetting traps anyways, and zerker will add 8 damage regardless, as well as con not really being needed considering my 2h warrior could take down the alpha ogre + shrieks. =]

I might go with 26 str to help get me through the origin/ostagar, then raise con to 16 and pump dex, the circle stats will finish str at a nice 30 and con at a nice 20. :wizard:

This is so over-the-top nerdy i can't believe it. I mean let's not lose perspective, soloing itself is a pain, soloing with a warrior even more so, but naked & without arms: peak of nerdiness.

That said, good look and: pics or it didn't happen.

Monk without the class, or the skills. Monk-geeks just can't be topped.

Monks with traps and grenades, oh the fun to be had! :wizard:

I have however encountered a bug that happens while unarmed, one will suddenly stop attacking for reasons unknown and can only begin attacking again if they switch to a weapon and/or back again (movement and such is still capable while this bug occurs).

This got me killed two out of three occurrences, the first time I thought it was some randomly effed up overpowered debuff from an Alpha Genlock, the second time I realised the Alpha Genlock already had me debuffed when it happened, the third time I was about to administer the killing blow to the blight wolf and BAMLOL@ME (this is when I decided to try switching out to a weapon, and it fixed the bug, killing the wolf in the process).

Oh and as for "pics or it didn't happen", you can follow the characters progress via my profile page can you not? (when it finally uploads /sigh lol) I play on the 360 so screenshots will be hard to come by. =]

You really have nerves of steal don't cha? It MAY be dooableif you dripfeed your character health potions but I cant see the fun in that...
It may be more enjoyable as a mage or rogue... maybe using only bloodmagic for mana or only 1 school?

Tbh, an arcane warrior who only attacks with their fists would probably be as close to a monk as one can get... but I'm not doing it to be a monk, I'm doing it so I can say I finished the game as a naked unarmed warrior and it wasn't all that hard. =]

I shouldn't need too many health pots once I start pumping out traps and grenades, they will be my main source of damage and I know pretty much every possible fight/encounter so I can preset traps if I really need it. Once  I get a decent asortment of grenades it should just be a matter of throwing 3-4 different grenades and wiping out a group of mobs. :wizard:

Picking Dwarf Noble gets me an extra 3 gold to start with as well thanks to the scholar right as you exit the palace, so I have some easy starter cash for recepies/ingrediants, as well as vending all weapons/armor. :D

N' I think rogues have it too easy with being able to bomb people from stealth, hence why I went with warrior. :P

you should change the class to rogue and go with a combination of duelist, ranger or bard. warriors get hit way to easily and as a rogue you dont need any strength at all since wicked makes your dex count in place of strength. plus, you'll have feign death if you need to rest a bit after a tough fight. besides, not all rogues need to spec for stealth. plus you may need lockpicking to gather loot to sell for more ingredients or just more cash.

as a ranger you get a summon, which is still solo since it's not counted as a party memeber. as a duelist, the dueling mode gives you bonuses for attack and defense. and bard songs are pretty useful as well.

Haha, like I said, rogues n' mages have it too easy! :P

Edit: The only thing I remember is that guy is ment to give you 100 gold but then you get exiled, which 25 gold are we speaking of here? :o This is the first playthrough I've spoken up for the surface dwarfs on.

I only remember the gold from the conor demon and body parts in deep roads demon. =]

Try asking Lord Dace from the dwarf noble origin for money instead of info ^_^
you will get a nice item to sell
The silly note is quite valuable, I missed it first time around

Ah ha! I just went with the info on this play through because I only remembered getting a silly note that I couldn't turn in the last time I went that path. :bandit:

This shall prove most helpful, bwahahaa! :innocent:

Edit:  I had never thought to try vending the note. lol @ me =]

I know this is off topic, but VenomStriker how do you get your profile page to work on Xbox, everytime I start playing it says something went wrong in the set up or something. So my profile page says I have no DA:O data.

Are you talking about the "unable to connect to profile page" thingy? I've been getting that all morning + a little last night. <_<

Can't really do anything about that except wait I believe... best to check the 360 technical section me thinks.
