Mass Effect: Interceptor (Complete)

FFN: www.fanfiction.net/s/6928581/1/Mass-Effect-Interceptor (Original version - currently undergoing revision)
DA: mothbanquet.deviantart.com/art/Mass-Effect-Interceptor-Episode-1-320702357 (Revised edition, currently in progress)

Original story, set six months before the events of the first Mass Effect game, Interceptor is a riveting conspiracy thriller and precursor to the trilogy itself.  Starring a powerful cast of original characters alongside both fan favourites and lesser-known personalites, Interceptor combines exciting action and unpredictable plot to explore the greater Mass Effect universe.

"Six months before the events of Mass Effect, a crucial summit is due to be held between the Citadel Council and the human Systems Alliance. On this important day, a young turian named Arlen Kryik is recruited into an elite C-Sec unit known as the Interceptors, a small cadre of agents responsible for hunting wanted fugitives throughout the galaxy.

Partnered with veteran agent Garrus Vakarian as part of the summit's security detail, Arlen quickly becomes embroiled in a terrorist plot to destroy the Council and reignite tensions between the turian and human races.

Nothing is as it seems, however, and as Arlen and his C-Sec comrades race to uncover the truth, one of the Council's oldest enemies watches from the shadows..."

Praise for Interceptor (taken from reviews on FanFiction.net and deviantArt):

"I love this story! It's intense, very well written and the characters are portrayed beautifully."

"This genuinely outclasses a lot of published works I've read in recent months, which is not a compliment I hand out lightly."

"Every time I finish a chapter I'm left salivating for more. Thankfully, the waits are well worth it. Everything from characterization to plot is simply excellent."

Mass Effect 2: Dark Rendition (Complete)

FFN: www.fanfiction.net/s/5741435/1/Mass-Effect-2-Dark-Rendition
DA: mothbanquet.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d53tohj

A dark, gritty Tali/Shep fanfic, this was my first foray into fan fiction as a salute to Tali'Zorah Vas Neema/Normandy. Beginning as a mere experiment on the BioWare social forums, it ended up spanning thirty chapters and receiving over two hundred reviews on fanfiction.net.

The story is a retelling of a portion of Mass Effect 2's story. It follows a bitter, scarred Shepard as he tries to build a team capable of taking on the Reapers and their servants, the Collectors. To do this he must contend with a crew he does not trust, the sudden alienation and distance of his loyal friends and the terrible mental toll his death has taken.

He is a man ready to die; that is, until an old friend shows him he still has something yet to live for.

Praise for Dark Rendition (taken from reviews on FanFiction.net and deviantArt):

"A great work. Great characterization throughout, and you were able to do something I've seen few people do successfully: having lengthy combat scenes that genuinely feel tense without becoming taxing."

"This was an excellent story. Explored very realistic themes and experiences, while being engaging and dark. Extremely well written, with the internal conflicts resolved, while the true skill inputted is apparent with tasteful deviations from the canon. The best Mass Effect fan fiction I've read yet, possibly the best fan fiction on this site."

"You gave (Shepard) depth and meaning and in doing so enriched the entire ME experience. I commend you again on a truly brilliant character study and a story that will not soon be forgotten by anyone fortunate enough to read it."

Mass Effect: A Fornax Production (Complete)
FFN
DA

Short 3-chapter comedy.  Acerbic erotic movie director Jon Freeman is in a bit of a pickle.  He is tasked with creating Fleet and Forntilla, the most ambitious and expensive porn flick in Fornax's history.  So far he is over-budget, behind schedule and must contend with a disgruntled turian stage actor, quarian rights protestors, a pair of procrastinating salarian writers and a volus named Wilson.  Can he and his long-suffering elcor producer Xantar deliver the goods or will they end up with their own private parts in orbit around Illium?

Praise for A Fornax Production (taken from reviews on FanFiction.net and deviantArt):

"This wonderful little story was truly inspired. The characters were fun and yet still sympathetic. I found myself really caring about what happed to them – so the epilogue was a terrific way to wrap it up. Thank you for sharing a tale that had me laughing out loud more times than I can count!"

"Couldn't stop smiling reading this. This was a very fun read. Feels very much like a theatrical play. This is one of those stories that could work fine on its own, but because its with the aliens we all know and love gives it that edge."

"This is a fantastic story. Everything is really well done in terms of narration, humor, character development, ect. Each character is very "larger than life" and that type of characterization fits perfectly with what is going on here. The humour is also very good with the stand out moments being the "punny" sex jokes or the "witty dialog" the writers wrote. I tend to go towards fiction that expands the universe, tries to explore new avenues and ideas we, the audience, haven't thought of before. This is a perfect example of this and has truly made me consider a whole new aspect of the mass effect universe."

Upcoming Projects:

Mass Effect:  Dark Saga

Spiritual successor to the popular Tali/Shep fic Mass Effect 2: Dark Rendition, Dark Saga a long-running project that should prove very exciting to those of you who read and enjoyed my earlier work. This will be one of, if not the most ambitious Tali/Shepard fics ever - a retelling of the entire Mass Effect saga from the perspective of the same Commander Shepard that featured in DR. This will be a complete story that will stay true to the original plot lines and include all DLC, but will contain several sub-plots that will offer new insights into Shepard's companions.

Years after seeing his family and friends butchered and herded like cattle by batarian slavers on the colony of Mindoir, a young Lieutenant named Shepard is dropped behind enemy lines during the siege of a major pirate and slaver stronghold on the barren moon of Torfan.  Shepard is an Infiltrator; an agent used to working undercover and in the shadows to maintain peace and security in Alliance Space.  Part of an elite and deadly strike team, he must work to disrupt the slavers' defences and assist the main strike force as they land on Torfan's surface.  Things do not go as planned, however, and the resulting struggle will bring Shepard not only infamy but the attention of the wider galaxy itself.

His journey will begin here.  It will end in the battle for all life itself...

Any feedback/comments are much appreciated and feel free to subscribe/watch on FFN and dA - updates come weekly!

A taste of the above new chapter:

"Garrus reached up and used the fingers of one hand to gouge into his eyes, rubbing them until they were sore. When he opened them again the room was still there, white and pristine and he felt as if he'd spent his entire life within the walls of one hospital room or another. The clinical smell of antiseptic cleaning agent and stale linen was even more familiar to him now than the close stench of the wards and he grimaced slightly as he allowed his eyes to rest on the turian lying motionless on the bed before him.

Arlen had been knocked unconscious by the blast, his distance from it barely enough to save his life. Garrus could only be thankful the young man hadn't been seriously hurt, or at least, more than he already was. With all the burns and scorch marks already adorning Arlen's skin in twisted, black patches, it was difficult to tell new damage from old. Hell, Garrus thought to himself with a soft grunt, that the kid was still alive was nothing short of a miracle.

His eyes glistened at the thought of those who had died in the explosion, more innocent lives cut short in a single, brutal instant. One in particular caused Garrus great pain. His breath came quietly through his nostrils as again he ran through exactly what he would tell Arlen when he woke up, what kind of excuses he could give. There was never an easy way to deliver bad news and there was so much of it to give that Garrus did not know where to even begin. He felt surrounded by death that day..."

"Sarnak stood confidently with his fellow slavers at his back as they waited to board the Kowloon. Five men stood with him, each tall and frightening in armour the colour of dried blood, all brandishing shotguns and assault rifles. The batarian's mouth twisted into a subtle smile. For a freighter this size, the small group would be more than enough to corral the animals together for submission and branding.

Beside him, Rednar Druka stirred. He was the captain's right hand and the only krogan on the crew, a head taller than them all and more aggressive than the rest combined. He had shared Sarnak’s plunder and chaos for over two decades, and when he spoke the crew listened. And when he spoke, Sarnak thought to himself, his grin widening, Druka listened.

'I don't like this, Boss,' Druka mumbled, the sound like distant thunder in his throat. 'I ain't ever seen a ship surrender so fast before. Never. Something don't smell right.'

Sarnak dismissed his fears with a wave of his hand. 'They're only humans, Druka. Cowards, every one of them. Scans showed only six crew members and light cargo, first-timers on their way back to Illium. The pilot's story checks out. Besides, you really think a bunch of freight jockeys are going to give us trouble? If they do then you ain't doing your job.'

Druka's booming growl mingled with the ship's ever-present hum to create a bass sound that churned the men's stomachs. Two of the others unconsciously shuffled a step away from the krogan and Sarnak tutted to himself at their cowardice. The airlock before them pitched and whined as servos engaged, the sound of a dozen small motors filling their ears as the door prepared to open. The rushing of air was next, along with a subtle pressure against their skulls as the two ships' atmospheres were equalised. Finally, the hulking metal barriers ground apart and Sarnak frowned menacingly at what he saw."

Episode 20 of Interceptor is up on deviantART, with many additions to the original version.  The Corsairs turn the unexpected arrival of a pirate vessel to their advantage while Arlen and Keller arrive on Illium; and meet a face many of you should recognise.

'Drink?' Vastra offered, holding up a half-empty bottle of asari wine. The liquid inside was a deep purple and it sloshed gently in his unsteady grip. 'It's my last bottle but something tells me I won't get another chance to partake.'

Arlen raised his hand. 'No thank you, just water.'

Vastra shrugged and picked his way across the room. Arlen glanced towards the kitchen, noting with distaste the stacks of garbage propped against piles of dirty utensils. The sink was filthy, and something dark and glistening had breached the top of it to jut out above the edge. Arlen wanted to believe Vastra was washing clothes in there but he could not be certain.

As Vastra approached the kitchen’s threshold, a small movement caught Arlen's eye. He suppressed a shudder as something small and black skittered along the work surface, disappearing beneath the refuse.

'On second thoughts, I'm really not that thirsty,' he said quickly, fighting back the urge to leap across the room and stop his host as his stomach turned with thoughts of what other horrors the slum of an apartment contained. 'Look, Vastra, I-'

'Cole,' Vastra interrupted as he entered the kitchen, pushing aside a rustling bag of debris with his foot. 'Call me Cole, Agent. No sense in standing on ceremony at this point.'

'Cole. Let me be clear. We know you're part of the Forgotten Legion, a terrorist organisation who claimed responsibility for the attack on the ] not four days ago. I've been tasked with locating and bringing in your leader, General Jardan Krassus. You can help yourself a great deal by leading me to him.'[/color]

Vastra grunted with something  approaching contempt. 'Jardan. He'll be surrounded by hundreds of Legion soldiers, as well as his senior tribune, Avitus Varn. You won't get to him, Agent, not without an army.'

The fact should have been obvious but its blunt delivery made Arlen blink in astonishment. He had paid so little thought to the moment he would face Krassus himself, content instead to deal with each situation as it presented itself, that the words bit into him deeply. To hear the grim estimation of his chances was sobering, and he had to shake his head gently to clear the doubt from his mind.

'That's not something you need to worry about. All I want is the location; where is Krassus hiding?'
Vastra turned his head to look at him directly, and his drunken stupor lifted momentarily to reveal a mind that was far sharper than it appeared.

'That's a very direct question, Agent. I won't give everything away up front, not here, not until I'm safe from reprisal. Get me safely back to the Citadel and I'll tell you everything I know.'

'This isn't time for games!' Arlen snapped angrily. 'I'm not asking here, Cole, and I am authorised to use any means necessary to get what I need.' He hoped there were no outward signs of how much his gut wrenched at the thought. No doubt if Olansi were there the Spectre would be cutting out his eyes to get what he needed. Arlen covered his uncertainty by shaking his head, though the disbelief in his voice was very real.

'I can't believe you. Not only do you willingly attack innocent civilians but then you try to buy your way out of it? You're a...a disgrace to our people, to everything we stand for!'

Vastra flinched at his words, and his reply was meek as Arlen's voice receded, echoing against the walls of the small room.

'I know, son. I know.'

Epic news!  Chapter 2 of A Fornax Production is up on dA and FFN!

Here's a taste:

‘You know of its reputation,’ Fisty replied, unaffected by her resolve.  ‘You know it is not one whose patience should be tested, nor one whose will can be ignored.’

Indeed Orea knew of the hanar’s appetites.  Every figure of law enforcement in the galaxy held a simultaneous disgust and grudging respect for the infamous captain, his cleverness and remarkable tactical prowess tainted by his desire for all things alien and female.  It was well known that when a colony had been stripped of all its women, Captain Fisty was the one responsible.  The evil of this particular jelly brought up a welling of anger deep within Orea and she turned her icy gaze up to him with barely restrained malevolence.

‘I would rather die,’ she hissed.  The answer was the wrong one, and Orea immediately regretted it as Fisty raised shimmering tentacle to caress her face sensually.

‘That would serve no one, least of all this one.’

The tentacle moved down and slithered beneath Orea’s combat suit.  The asari grimaced, helpless against the writhing, foreign presence on her skin and to her despair, she felt her cheeks flush.  Fisty’s movements became firmer and Orea tried to stifle a gasp of pleasure as the tentacle probed and rubbed against her body, a worming line under the pliable red material of her suit.  As much as it repulsed her, her body betrayed the knowledge Fisty seemed to possess.  Every motion was calculated to excite.  He was gentle in one moment, then harsh in the next and always in just the right spots.  To Orea’s horror, she found herself aching for him to continue.

Orea shuddered as her suit fell from her shoulders and the frigid air hit her exposed flesh like a wave.

‘You bastard,’ she said, shivering with both cold and pleasure.  Though it was impossible to truly tell, she could have sworn Fisty was smiling as he raised another tentacle to her mouth.

‘Prepare to be boarded.  Justicar.’

Orea tried to resist but the feel of Fisty’s slick appendages on her body had awakened desires she had long since buried after taking her oaths.  She felt them now, like hands on her back, pushing her to embrace her wants and accept the pleasure the pirate king could bring.  Slowly, reluctantly, Orea opened her mouth.

Suddenly, Dana stopped.  Something was off.  Her eyes darted about the set and her professional instincts screamed at her for doing so but it was certainly there; something was definitely amiss.  Closing her lips, she leaned forward towards Pallo’s outstretched limb and took a deep sniff.  That was it.

Cringing, she pulled back.  ‘Ew, Pallo!  Wrong tentacle!’

The hanar immediately shrunk back, horrified and his voice shook.  ‘This one is sorry!  It was certain it had the correct one!  It cannot begin to apologise enough!’

‘Cut!’ Freeman groaned.  At the edge of the set, perched on a small and desperately uncomfortable director’s chair, he ran a hand over his face to massage the loose, pasty flesh.

‘And here I thought we were doing so well.’

I love your stuff. Two awesome fanfics ! Keep it up.

Inteceptor was really good and Fornax ab****ely original. I loved both stories. You know very well how to expand the marvelous universe of Mass effect.

I didn't read your first fanfic though, to bad. My shep's Li is Ashley or Miranda.  and I can't think otherwise.

'The Council will once again consider humanity a candidate for Spectre recruitment,' the councillor said, her every word a hammer blow in the empty hall. 'You will draw up a list of suitable candidates, Ambassador, and consult us when you are ready.'

'Be sure to take your time and choose well,' the salarian councillor added before their turian counterpart interjected, his voice thick with disdain.

'There is no deadline, but after your last attempt another failure will not be taken lightly.'

Chellick's jaw hung limp. His skull felt tight and restrictive, and every beat of his heart was a throbbing rush of blood. His eyes turned down to the edge of the audience platform and he could not hear the words of the councillors as they continued the discussion without him. Their mouths moved but all Chellick could hear was the pleasure in Udina's voice.

'I am grateful, Councillors,' the ambassador said, sternly. He showed nothing of his satisfaction at the outcome and straightened his back. 'I will pass on news of this generous offer and, on behalf of the Alliance and humanity, thank you for your wisdom in this matter.'

The councillors nodded and, as one, turned away. Udina smiled thinly as he walked past Chellick and the turian stiffened instinctively at the smirking expression. When the tapping of footsteps had eased, he heard a soft shuffle to his left and Pallin spoke, his tone unsteady.

'This investigation had better turn up something soon, Chellick or before we know it they'll be running the whole damn Citadel. Now you can see why the Council called this meeting now, away from the collective eyes and ears of the galaxy. When the Primarch hears about this-'

'Why?' Chellick asked, his throat hoarse. 'Why did they ask me to come? They didn't need me all the way out here just to listen to Udina have his little victory!'

'Udina demanded it.'

Pallin's eyes met Chellick's as the commander's head snapped to face him. The executor did not know the strange light in Chellick's gaze but he ignored it to continue. 'He asked that you be brought up here to explain your progress, though I'm starting to think he wanted as many people here to witness this as possible.'

Chellick could not tell him how right he was, or how much of an understatement his assessments were. The commander looked down at the floor, its surface worn perfectly smooth by uncountable years of use. His fingers bunched painfully into fists as he recalled Udina's smug grin and, without another word, he turned his back on Pallin. The executor said nothing as Chellick stormed away, the rapping of his feet carrying to the very ends of the chamber.

The words sat like bitter acid in Shepard’s stomach. He stared blankly at the ground and it took a prompt from Kyle to bring him to his senses.

‘Lieutenant, is that clear?’

Swallowing, Shepard finally replied. ‘Yes, Sir. Send the co-ordinates of our target and we’ll move right away.’

As the line disconnected, Mason looked at Shepard warily. ‘You okay, Shep? Earlier you were all about putting the mission first but when the major mentioned leaving those people behind, you had the funniest look on your face. Something wrong?’

Shepard sniffed loudly, dropping a veil over his emotions as he had been taught to do many years ago. It was a skill that any Infiltrator agent had to learn and to Shepard, it came easier than most.

‘It’s nothing. Come on, we have to get going.’

Shrugging, Mason lifted his rifle and following his team leader out into the darkness. Around them, the night rattled with the sounds of war and beneath the great red planet in the sky, the line of mountains in the distance shimmered with explosions

The battle for Torfan had truly begun in earnest, though as he strode on, Shepard’s only thoughts were of tear-stained cheeks and panic-stricken eyes.

- Mass Effect: Dark Saga - Chapter 1
