It's very, very unlikely I will purchase this game. No seriously. Day one dlc, Origin, lack of effort in detail, lies told to players in ME3 by devs and a bad DA2 have given me very little care for this game. However, I loved Skyrim, so if all of the dlc and Origin shenanigans are missing and the game is a lot like Skyrim in many facets, I might be interested. I'm keeping an open mind. So please just have a copy of Skyrim handy apply a lot of the same stuff. Thanks!

If you just want skyrim, why dont you just play skyrim? I prefer them going the opposite route and make a story focues game with branching sidequests from that, other then Skyrim's (a game I do love) lots odf sidequests with a little story thrown in for the main part.

Skyrim sucked. Fallout: New Vegas is a much better open-world RPG.

So true, man.

Yes, Bioware, please make a boring game with a cliche plot that doesn't deviate significantly from your previous works in the series, and cardboard-thin characters. Then top it off by creating expansions that a significant portion of your customers cannot access.

Your problem, if you play on console and not PC. There is enough user created stuff available, which improves the game.

Oh look, it's another one of the PC eltists, come to shame me for my personal choice in entertainment systems. You know, I don't go around crowing over the fact that PC's gaming library is pathetically scant.

Even if I had access to mods, I wouldn't use them. It is not my responsibility to fix a terrible game.

Then don't complain about the game. It is common that TES games unfold their true potential with mods.

"If you weren't expecting the developers to be lazy from the get-go, that's your own fault!"

His point was that Skyrim offers much more replayability if you play on the PC.  Also, not using a mod because it's player created just seems narrow minded.  People have been modding TES games for a long time and actually greatly pays off for some of them.  Some people are offered jobs because of how awesome their mods are.   Also, why wouldn't you use a mod that you didn't create yet you provide the argument of, "it's not my responsibility to fix a terrible game?"

My argument is that the game shouldn't suck to begin with. If its "true potential", as Bfler calls it, is not already present upon release, then how the hell is it a good game?

Depends on your tastes.  I can't play Fallout: New Vegas, it's boring as hell to me.  I enjoy Skyrim.  Different strokes for different folks and all that jazz.

I wouldn't say the games suck to begin with, but they provide an open ended world that leaves alot of room for expansion, more expansion than developers are prepared to give beyond official software.  I think modding is a great outlet for fans to create unique content that wouldn't otherwise be seen and I sincerely wish that BW could find a way passed not releasing a toolset for DA3 even though highly unlikely.

Fallout has a post-apocalyptic dieselpunk/ atompunk setting where pulp SF laws of science apply. It has a healthy sense of humour, unlike Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls games, which tend to be rather po-faced overall. It helps if you like shooting things, although melee weapons are also available. How much better you'll like it than Skyrim will depend on what you're looking for. If you want a traditional fantasy, then no. If you want an unusual RPG setting set in a crapsack world, then yes, you might just prefer Fallout 3.

Personally I prefer Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas to Bethsoft's Fallout 3, although on the surface, they are pretty similar games.

The first two Fallout games, developed by Interplay, are very different in style from the later games; isometric view, turn-based combat. The Fallout Tactics games are also work checking out. The original Fallout games, as well as the more recent ones can be bought on Steam.

As a wise Qunari once said, "No."
And not just no, but HELL no! Skyrim's a good game, but not in the same way as Dragon Age. The closest DA should ever come to the Elder Scrolls games is like The Witcher games. Only in terms of exploration and a dynamic day/night cycle. Also:

Faith in Humanity = Lost

Let Skyrim be Skyrim, and Dragon Age be Dragon Age. Allthough I would like the replayability of Skyrim to be included in DA games, though.
