Personally, I think this is premature. I'd like to see an entire game center around Tevinter, and since this one seems to be pointed at Orlais, it'd make more sense for us to stick around Orlais/Ferelden/Free Marches--maybe we can sail around that narrow little sea between Ferelden and the Free Marches in a boat! That would be cool!

I agree with this.
However, I'd still like a small taste of TI...
TI's history itself blows away any other country in Thedas.

"should we go to tevinter?"? Is there a reason we should avoid tevinter? like in protest of virtual slavery? Because I don't think thedas with it's medeival setting is realy big on the whole political correctness. Is there a reason we should want to go to tevinter, other than sightseeing? I guess maybe for scientifc observense of how a magocratic society handles itself without chantry/templar supervision.
At this point in development, it's really premature to start advocating wether it's essential that visit/avoid a certain local.

Honest question, do you think that in DA3 there should be a point in the game where we head into the imperium's territory, maybe with something to do with mages fleeing to the imperium or something like that. Having a chance to see the culture, cities or city, and get some insits on the hated territory of thedas from their own point of view with our own eyes.
Maybe in DLC or a major expansion (what Awakening was to DA:O and what Exalted March would have been to DA 2). Orlais shares a border with the Imperium as well as Ferelden and Nevarra, not to mention the Anderfels. I'd be cool with visiting any one of those, though Ferelden least of all since it already was the setting of a whole game (and its expansion).

Not in DA3, thanks.

I'd like to really explore whatever country we end up in. If that's Orlais, I'd rather visit a half-dozen different Orlesian areas instead of hopping all over Thedas.
One country at a time. I really don't want to wander the whole of Thedas. It would just make designing the lore, and explaining it to the player, too complicated.

Yeah, but we didn't realy "explore" fereldan, not in the open world way they seem to be planning. The deep roads, now. we pretty much seen enough of those; seen one cave, you've seen them all...

What id you could explore the majority of thedas like you did with skyrim?

Fast forward to DA4, you're a Tevinter noble, trying to pick up the pieces of your homeland whilst trying to destroy orlesian influence at home and fighting a qunari invasion at the same time.
Oh yeah, I'm calling it.

I think the majority of Thedas is slightly larger than 37km². And Skyrim was hardly the majority of Tamriel.

DA:O: Ferelden
DA 2: The Free Marches (well...Kirkwall.)
DA 3: Orlais.
Otherwise we might end up exploring just a tiny bit of everything and that would be a tad unsatisfying. I'm not opposed to visiting the TI for a quest or two, but I want to spend my time exploring Orlais and delving into all the screwed-up inner politics of that country.
