I'm very curious about the opinions of other players as I put my 60 hour/$ "investment" into perspective?
Most pleasant experience/surprise: Easily it was Leliana's Song (even with the poor quality of graphic synching)... Very moving.
Most unpleasant experience/surprise: Without a doubt, uncharacteristically standing by as helpless GW chump while Morrigan (after romancing) and the DA:O writers kick me in the ba!!s for the sake of an ambiguous plot bridge (Dark Ritual).
What was your most pleasant and unpleasant experience/surprise throughout DA:O?

Most pleasant surprise: That hilarious bit of dialogue between Alistair and Wynne about where babies come from. I was laughing pretty hard the first time I ever heard it.
Most unpleasant surprise: That Alistair's sister was a nasty gold-digging harridan.

Most pleasant surprise: ...hard to say. There have been multiple great moments, but nothing particular comes to mind at this time.
Most unpleasant surprise: my first encounter with a giant spider in the Mage origin. I was totally expecting it to show up, but I wasn't expecting the camera to be angled in such a way that it took up 70% of the screen! I admit it... I screamed. I screamed loudly, and paused for a good two minutes until my wits returned.

Most pleasant surprise: Claudia Black and Steve Valentine voice acting. Amazing stuff.
Most unpleasant: Goldanna, that <beep beep beep beep beep> of a <beep beep beep> women. I wanted to send Zevran in there after Alistair and I left. Sadly, not an option.

Most Pleasant: Loghain as a recruitable party member. Was not excepting it.
Most Unpleasant: Alistair being forced into my party most of the game. You can get rid of everyone early except him. I that was so disappointing not being able to tell him to go away. He annoys the hell out of me.

Pleasant: This'll sound odd but the city elf origin on my first play through. I was all set for the usual "clear out the basement of giant rats/spiders/beetles" quest - thank god the mage tower obliged in my second play. I was so happy to find out my fiance had been kidnapped by a raping scumbag racist and I had to save her. That was something different and set the tone for my elf to basically hate on humanity whenever possible.
Unpleasant: Puzzles. Hate 'em, Towers of Hanoi can burn in Hades and that slider puzzle can join it there. If I want to play Myst I'll go back to 1992.

Most pleasant surprise : Shale's dialogue when she finally accepts you as a friend, that golem never stopped making me laugh.
Most unpleasant surprise : Caridin's suicide, i know he wanted peace at last but it just shocked me of his immediate action plus i kind of liked him.

Unpleasant: My first Landsmeet where I was in an Alistair romance and chose to spare Loghain. I was stunned with the outburst and really thought he'd come back at some point. When he was gone from the line-up, I stopped in my tracks. It was the first time I had gone back to a previous save for a do-over. The second most unpleasant surprise was trying to get away from the original Landsmeet decision as much as possible and making him king just to be sure he wouldn't walk out and then getting a horrible break-up scene in front of all my companions. All in all, it just wasn't a good night for me since I got dumped back to back by a virtual character. I went to bed upset, not wanting to finish the game. =p
Most pleasant surprise: This might be a boring choice, but I really liked it when Leliana sang her bard song at camp. I didn't expect it and I loved how the video played out, the way each character reacted to her singing. I wished there could have been another song squeezed in somewhere. Alistair can give a big speech to rally the troops. Why not have Leliana singing as they march into an epic battle? Anyway, that's probably the scene I look forward to the most on each playthrough now.

Geez guys, really?
Most unpleasant (made me squirm with unease): was Leliana singing around the campfire. The song wasn't bad in and of itself but her facial expression (oh my god, the eye rolls) and body language were appallingly, cringingly badly done.
Most pleasant: Zevran, who I expected to be a complete and utter scumbag actually has a significant number of redeeming features as you get to know him. His dialogue cracks me up sometimes (and Shale isn't far behind).

Most pleasant surprise was being forced to make a choice at Redcliffe between killing Isolde and killing Conner (without knowing at the time that going to the Circle was an option - I thought I didn't have time, or that going to get help would end up in the whole town being killed by Conner). Kinda wish that 3rd option didn't exist.
Most unpleasant surprise was Rijordan showing up at the last minute with "Oh hey guys, here's some exposition about the Grey Wardens and our purpose, and since I'm the senior, I'll be the one to take down the arch demon. Don't worry, fellas. Absolutely nothing is going to go wrong to make one of you have to make the killing blow. Its totally cool. Trust me!"

Most unpleasant surprise: getting dumped by Alistair after making him king.
Most pleasant surprise: Morrigan and Leiliana talking about religion (athiesm vs. the Maker). Profound, yet hilarious.

Most pleasant surprise: the party banter. I think the one that made me laugh the hardest was the one where Leliana asks Oghren if he's thinking about Branka... I won't ruin the ending, but try putting both of them in your party and running around some if you haven't heard it.
Most unpleasant surprise: the DLC loot being so much better than the "ordinary" loot. That presents the gamer with the annoying choice of either selling good items or feeling like a loser who has to buy his way through the game.

Most pleasant surprise was immediately after getting Shale. Chicken --> Loud footstomp --> Golem by a pool a blood trying his damnedest to appear clueless.
Most unpleasant surprise so far has been the broken combat flow. I feel more like I'm playing a turn-based game. It would be nice if I could trust the AI a little more, but I haven't found that groove yet (PS3 if it makes any difference).
Of course, I haven't finished the game yet. My most unpleasant surprise could very well be not having an option to rule Orzammar as my Dwarf Noble PC. Having to choose between Bhelen and Harrowmont would be ridiculous in that situation. If Alistair can be a King, then my Dwarf should be able to reclaim rule over his city as well.

Most unpleasant surprise: Anora betraying me twice, and that I cant tear her arms off for it and Morrigan's betrayal after romancing her (telling me she would sleep with another man to get her demon baby? seriously?)
(I expected the sacrifice bit, every RPG has to have one
)
Most pleasant surprise: Leliana's song and Alistair's execution

Pleasant: Ummmm..... that is a hard one. I liked everything about this game, so the pleasant surprise was this game in general!!
Unpleasant: While after "getting with" Morrigan with my first Human Noble Warrior playthrough, and then having her tell me that she just wants to use me near the end. I didn't like that. I kinda wanted to slice her head off after that.

Most pleasant surprise: That Shale was actually a character with a story and awesome dialogue. I had been expecting just a robot, like the golem in NWN2. Go Bioware!
Most unpleasant surprise: Losing Alistair in the Landsmeet after sparing Loghain. Had been rping a paladinish character that gave mercy to all, and then losing the character that is most like a paladin in game :S

Just fyi, if you are on pc, there is a mod to let you do that (or use magic to blast them open, too, I think).

Best experience was probably broodmother. I think she's one of the best enemies in the game because she's big and ugly and produces darkspawn, the build up with hespith was pretty creepy, and the fight is one of the few really challenging ones (without exploits).
Worst...i don't really know, there isn't a single moment that's outright bad ... at most maybe Lelianas song because of the weird animation. In general, the deep roads were annoying. They were well done with regards to story, style and atmosphere, but i can't stand neverending dungeons filled with enemies and hours of fighting. At least the combat mechanics balanced this out a bit.

Pleasant:
The Shale+chicken incident
"What is your name?"
Dr. Zevran's advice on sex to Alistair- "... arching your..."
Sten responding to Morrigan when she tries to talk sex with him "..iron prybar. You may want to heat it first to get my attention ..."
Not Really Pleasant, but genuinely emotional
Ruck and Filda
The boy in Lothering waiting for his dead mother
Unpleasant:
The fake choice between Alistair and Loghain at Landsmeet
Morrigan disapproving every frikkin halfway decent course of action
Wynne's "What does it mean to be a grey warden" speech
