If you don't wake Grunt and give Legion over to Cerberus, you can only have 8 teammates with you during the suicide mission (not including Zaeed and Kasumi, of course). Three teammates can die during the Oculus attack without any of the ships upgrades. That leaves 5 left. One you send into the vents can die, 4 left. One can die from the seeker swarm, 3 left. Second fire team leader can die, 2 left. And the crew escort can die, 1 left. What happenes in this situation since you have to take 2 with you into the final battle?
Is it possible to have NO ONE hold the line?

psychocandy is correct in that if only one squadmate survives, Shepard dies. You must have 2 squadmates survive the suicide mission for Shepard to survive.
However, note that the game will force you to leave the crew members to fend for themselves if you do not have enough squadmates at that point, and the game will also force at least three squadmates to survive so at least one can hold the line.
You must have a minimum of 8 squadmates to start the suicide mission. Assuming you have only eight and assuming you have not upgraded the ship:
1) 3 members can die before boarding the Collector Base, 5 squadmates left.
2) Squadmate in vents can die. 4 left.
3) The game will then force you to have the crew fend for themselves.
4) One squadmate can die at the end of the seeker swarm. 3 left.
If 3 are left, the second fire team leader survives regardless of loyalty.
This leaves 3 squadmembers. one to hold the line and the other two to go with you into the final battle.
