That is such a good, satisfying ending.
It saddens me to see her become a generic kind of villain and even more saddening to see they are "cop&paste"ing Lady Sylvannas for her fate. Next step is infested terrans becoming " The Space Forsaken"...

An ending where the characters that you really build up a hatred for die a gruesome and satisfying death or get their just deserts at least; hopefully the ending to ASOIAF will fit this category.

I actually also don't mind the sort of ending that leaves it at a cliffhanger-esque moment that makes you wonder but will never be truly resolved.

My Favorite end for games i heavly invest in, are the bitter-depressive sweet endings.

Movies im very pickly and judgemental, so depends on the flim

Books like much like games, but some with a happier end

Mass Effect 1 had a great ending in my opinion. A lot of games are a series of games so I don't mind some bittersweet, non happy endings in some of the games as long as it is not the last game in the series.

Yes, ME1 had a good ending. Sadly it got worse with each game in the series.

Red Dead Redemption's ending is a good example of a not-so-happy ending that didn't manage to annoy me in the slightest. I felt it was very fitting.

Best part of RDR is we can have our revenge in Epilogue. I admit i shed some manly tears when John Marston died :( Take 7 of them with me tough!

I love StarCraft 2's gameplay. They really made a fantastic RTS game....

But the StarCraft 2 plot is complete garbage. I remembered being so ****ing angry at the fate of Kerrigan the self-proclaimed Queen **** of the Universe turned into a helpless damsel in distress for Jimmy to save.

Ugh. Just ugh.

Way to turn a fun storyline into complete trash.

Hmm, tough one... It depends on the overall tone of narrative a lot but I would say I prefer these "Oh crap... Wow." which let you connect all dots and slowly realize the bigger (logical) picture by yourself.

EDIT: But a vast majority of endings I have seen were BS or average at best, so I'm usually content with an ending that fits a narrative and respects lore and characters if it's character-driven.

Depends on the characters and plot dependant on my perception of each game. ME3 ending for example fitted in well with what I expected and desired regarding the non-happy-ever-after which would of felt very jarring to me if had such a happy ending, as it did not fit in with my percieved theme of the game and certainly not with the persona of the character I had by the end.

RDR ending was also good even though was not a happy-ever-after form of ending. I personally felt both games had an emotional impact and the level of bitter-sweet and sacrifice was just about right for the theme of the games and characters from my perspective.

I don't dislike happy-ever-after endings however but they have to fit in with my perception of the story or characters gained from playing. I also don't think all games must have a happy ending.. Putting in a rainbows and bunnies stroll off into sunset ending into a game that I feel should not end that way is more annoying to me than putting a bitter-sweet or sad ending to a game that I felt could of ended with happy ending. Plus it is not often that a game ends on a sad or bitter-sweet way compared to how many happy ending ones that exist, it is refreshing to have a non-happy ending game from time to time.
