BioWare's data tracking indicates that male Shepard is played 80% of the time. That's a pretty comprehensive majority.

The bulk of the game's advertising also depicts Shepard as male.

Sometimes, the cigar is just a cigar.

Since they already committed considerale recources into having a femshep to begin with (you do realize the time, effort and money required for that), including an updated promotional campain for ME3, BioWare has already realized that 20% is a substantial piece of the pie. To make the math easy, let's say you sell 100000 copies at 10 bucks, that minority is worth 200k right there. And as you know, they're selling them for more than 10 bucks.

Now I say again, making the banner took 20 minutes and since new banners are coming out all the time I'm guessing it's not going to be a major investment to have it unlock with the other one. So I really don't get what this "there's more of us so we're right" argument is supposed to accomplish when we are talking about something as simple as a banner.

Even though 80% of gamers play male Shepard, Bioware still records dialogue for FemShep, makes a FemShep model,  creates FemShep specific romances with associated cutscenes, does advertising using FemShep, and sells Femshep figures. If they're already willing to put in all that effort, why shouldn't they also be willing to make a banner that takes 20 minutes to put together?

Also I dont think FemShep players are such a minority or they wouldn't bother recording dialog twice (not only for shep but for all characters adressing him/her) over 3 games.

Wow. That's gorgeous. The concept art is much better than the in-game model.

I'm glad it shows the male shep.

That statistic data is for ME2. In addition, 20% is a big chunk 1/5 of all playthroughs. I guess this is enough for BW to keep recording dialogues and making femShep as one of the choices to play with. I'd be interested to see new data for ME3.

It would be nice to have both versions of Shep on same poster (I mean they can put their artistic integrity, i mean skills to use). Not sure if toggle menu can be easily implemented without patching a game (? not sure on this one). There are many ways to go about creating banner that feels inclusive to both "camps".

I just want to say that, while I support banner variety, I don't care for that horsefaced aberration they chose as the default femshep. So I wouldn't use it even if the option was there.

But like I said, more banners would be nice.

I find it bizarre that people can object to the inclusion of FemShep, either as an option or with both on the banner.

What the what?!?

None of the arguments against a Femshep option I have read here make any sense at all.

MaleShep is just one more standard boring male hereo out of the hundreds of standard boring male hereos.

FemShep is almost unique in the gaming world, a strong female playable character that doesn't have bazoonkas the size of a small island nation. Perhaps thats the problem, if Bioware had given her Laras "personality" assets there would be more people wanting her on the banner.

If you prefer and would use the MaleShep banner good for you, but to object to the idea/ option of a FemShep banner for those who play FemShep is childish and selfish.

It's 2012 folks, get with the friggin program, strong female role models in games are a good thing and should be encouraged.

None of the arguements I have read for Femshep make any sense.

MaleShep is a recognised male lead along with many other recognised male leads.

Femshep is pretty generic and flat chested and should be more like Lara.

If you don't like using Maleshep that is fine, but to ask for a Femshep banner is childish and selfish.

It's 2012 folks, so we should encourage our history that rejects female leads because they breed weakness.

BSN data tracking shows 80% of PUG players don't use medigels or rockets. That's a pretty comprehensive made up statistic that I will use to justify never using medigels or rockets in game.

Dammit, humanity. I'm moving to Palaven, screw you guys.

On a serious note, I've played both BroShep and FemShep, so I'm neutral on this. BroShep makes weird faces, and FemShep prances in ME3. But whatever.
Anywho, a simple compromise would be to have both Sheps on either side with N7 in the centre.
Personally, I don't even want Shepard on it, or the Lone Wolf Banner. Because we all know the lone wolf was Thane, and the best of the best was Mordin. Someone else might have gotten it wrong. Seriously though, I'd prefer each of the outstanding figures of SP to be on the BoB banner (Hackett, Anderson, TIM, Saren).

There's not enough female players to warrant making a femshep banner. Why give in to the extreme minority?

Because the vocal minority always wins nowadays. 'Course, we could go back a couple centuries and just behead them. ^_^
