There's not enough female players to warrant making a femshep banner. Why give in to the extreme minority?

Because the vocal minority always wins nowadays. 'Course, we could go back a couple centuries and just behead them. ^_^

And what exactly would be so bad about the minority "winning" in this case? I beg you, tell me, because I absolutely fail to see it. The devs would have to invest like 20 minutes to make a new banner and either create a new challenge that gives a femShep banner or find a way to make a "toggle" option for banners or maybe change the existing BoB banner to feature both versions of Shepard.

Would that really be so horrible? Would you and all the other Neanderthals in this thread cry yourselves to sleep at night, because there is a female counterpart to your beloved broShep?

I've personally never faced any misogyny in my life so far, but the way people are sometimes put down here if they dare to ask for something from a female standpoint on a gamingboard no less, really sickens me.

Oh my God, just be quiet. Let's take a step back and get a glimpse of reality. I don't think women have ever been treated as equally as they're being treated in this day and age. You may argue that you're still not being treated fairly, fine. But how about fighting against actual discrimination, instead of a banner in a freakin' video game? A banner showing a guy instead of a woman is sexist, all of a sudden? Please. That kind of reasoning is probably why more people don't take feminists seriously.

I don't even think a toggle is necessary. If both banners show up on the completed banners selection page, the player can only select one.

I think I'd rather say what I want to say, thank you very much.

And also, if you take a serious look at this thread you might notice that the ones who want a femShep banner are not really the ones fighting in the first place. The OP came here to voice her surprise over the lack of a female version of the BoB banner and to ask Bioware to add one. People could have simply ignored her or said "I don't really need it, but whatever. Variety doesn't hurt." But no, they came into this thread to tell her to shut up, that it would be a waste of time and that the 20% femShep players (going by the statistic floating around here) aren't worth it to include something as simple as a banner "in a freakin' video game". That is sexist, not Bioware not including femShep in the first place. I never said that, so please don't put words into my mouth, okay?

If it's down to one of two things, either male or female, the one with the wiener is automatically the best. Didn't you know that?

Oh, look, another woman jumping to assume I'm trying to censor her voice just because she's a woman, and not because her opinion is stupid.

I'd rather not, threads like this tend to give me a headache. How many people have come on here to voice their "surprise"? This should be old news, by now. People like OP could just as easily say "Oh, the banner doesn't have a woman. I want one with a woman. I guess I'll fly one of the banners that doesn't have a man. I have choices and I will make use of them." Do I come on BSN and make threads about my shock that the Council Operative banner displays an Asari instead of a Turian? No, I don't care, and I fly other banners. Don't put words in my mouth, okay? I never said that changing the banner for twenty percent of the gamers is pointless. I said that whining about the banner being discriminatory is ridiculous, that people like you and OP are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Ok, but other people (including myself) do see a point in 'complaining' about it. I just don't get what the problem is with wanting Femshep on a banner as well.

Don't you think Bioware, or the multiplayer team, or whoever is in charge of the banners, has bigger things to worry about? It wouldn't be a problem to come up with another banner, as people here on BSN have proven in five minutes with their expert Photoshop skills. It wouldn't be a problem to have a choice, either way. The problem would be implementing the code allowing people to choose, and then dealing with possible bugs where one banner doesn't show, or the other shows instead, and what have you. It'd be a big headache, when the solution is simple - if you don't like the banner, don't fly it. I don't fly the weapon challenge banners because I don't like the way they look.

What? Just... what? I'm not going to shut up because you tell me to, but I really couldn't care less if you do so because you dislike my opinion, my gender, my zodiac sign (Scorpio, btw) or whatever. You seriously pulled this one out of thin air.

Another interesting point, people aren't allowed to make topics about "old news" anymore. Must PM the mods immediately to get them to lock about 1/3 of all threads because they simply discuss old topics over and over again. Wow, great argument here.

"I never said that changing the banner for twenty percent of the gamers is pointless. I said that whining about the banner being discriminatory is ridiculous, that people like you and OP are making a mountain out of a mole hill."

And I never said that you said that, so what exactly is your point here? I was simply summerizing several posts to this thread without quoting anyone directly, least of all you. And as I was trying to say, this topic wasn't a mountain before so many people had to argue against it. It could have been a simple thread, nothing more than a page or two of people asking for the inclusion of femShep on a banner (not any generic character, but you know the gal featured in 50% of the game's content), but the fact that so many BSNers have such a big problem with it is pretty telling, I guess.

There are new threads here almost every day, asking Bioware to make entirely new banners or to change existing ones (e.g. change the title of the smg mastery banner, which I personally don't care about one bit, but also don't mind if it gets changed) and no-one really gives a damn, but God forbid someone wants a banner featuring femShep, then all hell breaks loose.

As I said in my first post, it's a can of worms.

Bioware should release the Asari Infiltrator, do a female character weekend challenge and then give us a Femshep banner. Problem solved.

Tbh, i'm thinking right now about making a thread that asks for a Miranda Lawson banner. Why? Because of dat hawt perfect ass. I'm pretty offended that perverts get discriminated like this.

Well yeah, I can agree with that argument, but that's not the point you (and others) were making earlier (about feminism etc). IMO Bioware should've put both Sheps in the banner or something in the first place.

Hoo boy. So, when I tell you to be quiet, and then you tell me "hurr hurr I'mma say whatever I want, thank you very much", which came across as another woman jumping to assume I'm trying to censor her voice just because she's a woman, and not because her opinion is stupid, that means I'm pulling it out of thin air. Oookay.

Did I say people can't make threads about old things? No, I said it was pointless to whine about this issue as if it's sexism. If people think this is sexist, they're seriously out of touch with reality. And, really, let's be realistic. How many times have you seen a thread about another BoB banner being made for FemShep that died after two pages worth of comments? Bioware went with the standard male Shepard because he's the poster boy of the entire series. I would consider it real discrimination if they had featured some random male Shepard, instead of the guy that's, you know, the default choice when you start a new game, the guy on the cover of the game...See where I'm going?

There isn't anything bad about the minority winning in this instance. I don't believe I ever said such a thing. In fact, if you take the time to go back and read my other response to this thread, you'll find that I've played both genders of Shepard, and am neutral in this debate. I would gladly accept a femshep banner, but don't demand one, and would in fact prefer if shep wasn't even on the banner.
And I agree, it would take the devs very little effort to create one, as seen by regular forumites already having done so. The trick is in implementing it. If it can be done with balance changes, great, if not, it needs a patch, which costs resources and takes forever for the devs to release.
Off topic (compared to the banner) is that I don't particularly enjoy being called a Neanderthal, especially seeing as I never stated anything offensive to you or women in general, and therefore don't see the what warrants it. If you want your argument to be taken seriously, don't insult people. Be happy I that I can actually present a coherent response, and not more insults to counter you.
Back on topic, I would not cry myself to sleep if broshep had a femshep counterpart. As said, I am neutral, and while having both on the banner would be best for all, I'd prefer neither to be on it.
It's good that you haven't encountered mysogyny. Now return the favour. I take you seriously about this, but from some of the responses, most don't seem to. Be a bit more polite, and don't immediately think we're all being sexist. If I come across as rude with that, I apologize, I'm just trying to provide advice. As for the female standpoint being put down, it doesn't really happen unless it devolves into the current kind of debate. I personally think it's because female gamers are in the minority, and as such the average male gamer is unprepared to deliver a proper response.

Was that the kind of speach you wanted? I hope you read that a bit more openly than you did my little joke that started all this.
