First, the hardware:

Core2Duo T9300 @ 2.5 GHz
Nvidia 8600M GT (512MB DDR2, ForceWare 195.62)
4GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I played DA:O on this machine for about 50 hours with no issues whatsoever; rather surprising how well it ran... but it didn't last. After about 50 hours, I got the usual Windows crash to desktop. I reloaded my last save and for another 10 hours or so, all was well, but then it crashed again. Then the crashes started coming more and more often until I finally encountered one that reloading didn't allow me to bypass (I'm stuck in the Market District of Denerim after the Landsmeet -- if I go anywhere at all, it crashes). I checked the logs and the crash is always something like this:

Faulting application name: DAOrigins.exe, version: 1.2.9393.0, time stamp: 0x4b171181
Faulting module name: DAOrigins.exe, version: 1.2.9393.0, time stamp: 0x4b171181

Report Id: 0e6e2e8c-f8ef-11de-95cb-001c26e5b235

I figured maybe there is a problem with that particular area, so I uninstalled the game and rather than installing it from the DVD again, I downloaded a brand new copy using EADM, installed it, redownloaded all of the content... and still got the same exception (although interestingly enough, it doesn't know the module name anymore):

Faulting application name: DAOrigins.exe, version: 1.2.9393.0, time stamp: 0x4b170f79
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

I then thought it was save game corruption, but I've tried reloading 3 older saves (all at Arl Eamon's Estate) and they all exhibit the same behavior: entering the Market District is fine, but going from there to any other area will crash the game (even though this wasn't true of these saves before, when I originally played them!). I've gone back to a much older save and the corruption isn't present yet (at least I can enter and leave the Market District), but this quite a long ways back and I want to know what causes this nuisance so as to avoid ruining batches of saves in the future.

Hmm are you running any mods that people have made other than the official dlc's?

Try moving out(don't delete) your profile file somewhere, and then logging in ingame to create a new fresh one, perhaps the other one got corrupt or something. Other thing you can try, is disable all dlc and mods and force load the save and see if it still crashes.

Also could you post your save somewhere so I can download and try if it crashes on my comp too.
