Even though I got the EC soundtrack free, I bought it on ITunes to support the series and Sams work, his tracks Wake Up and Mars are outstanding and some of the best tracks in the series imo

Personally I want the next game to have music like Mass Effect 1, it was far more unique and interesting. Mass Effect 3's was the worst, as it tried to include too many orchestral pieces.

I like Christopher Lennertz as well. He did a great job with Lair of the Shadow Broker and the genophage campaign.

Agreed.

I still would argue that even though the ME1 score is overall the best in the series, It still feels kind of flat compared with a number of other synthy scores, infact I can name three excellent scores this year in Dredd, The Raid and Looper. It felt like it lacked some power or oomph or something. Listening to the tracks solo kinda expose their lack of any kind of feeling.

The best pieces of music for me put images in your mind instantly and can easily be transcribed unto other images and make them more powerful, a lot of the music in ME is a little bit generic.

I disagree about Hans Zimmer.
His music is good. But when he is doing huge movies like: Dark Knight, Da Vinci Code, Pirates and etc it becomes extremely repetitive.
When i first heard Pirates of the Carribbean theme i thought i was hearing Crimson Tide's main theme.

Hulick and Wall are the only two i want, no one else.
Because those two created an atmosphere for ME series, especially for the first game which IMO has dbest music. If Bioware will again hire someone famous like Mansell, all we are going to hear will be orchestra pieces. Not saying Mansell's score wasn't bad, i really liked his music that is played during romance scenes and "escape the Earth".
But Mass Effect doesn't need orchestra to be good, especially not the type of orchestra that forces you how to feel about the game. (yes im talking about the ending scene)

Despite the fact Sam and Jack made the 'original' soundtrack that I love, Clint Mansell blew them out of the water with only two tracks on ME3.

.

This so very much. As much as I enjoyed the original ME, the ME3 tracks composed by Mansell were just superlative.

All Mass Effect games have a soundtrack which fits that particular game. They're all unique to that episode and still sound 'Mass Effect'. I really like ME1's soundtrack partly because it reminded me of one of the very few good things about Unreal 2: The Awakening (Jack Wall was one of the composers in that game as well).
But I like ME2's and 3's as well, so yes I don't mind to see at least Hulick returning for ME4.
Even though it will probably have a lot of differences compared to the Original Trilogy, it still needs to retain the 'Mass Effect-feel', which in my opinion the soundtrack is one of the elements which works best to achieve such a goal.
