What program (if any) do you use to record game content?

In my fanfic Mock Effect 2, I used Camstudio to record the section of the screen where the subtitles were, so I tried that today when I opened Mass Effect 3.

The recording worked fine until I clicked the Mass Effect program, whence it became a blank screen.  I can see my cursor, but no gameplay.  Anyone had a better experience with a different program?  I really need this to do my work properly.

Try using Fraps. It's pretty much like camstudio. There is a trial of it that lets you record 30 sec of video, I'd recommend that you buy it though.
Search for it on google and you should find it very quickly.

Hope that helps.

Ok. Looking into FRAPS. EA help told me to set Origin.exe affinity to CPU 1 and try again, but that made no difference.

Any other ideas? There has to be some fanfiction whiz around here with a similar method!

I used Bandicam for some of the recordings i've done. I good practice is to record on a different hard drive then the one you have your game on. Also try MSI Afterburner, it's a free software.

I use Dxtory but that's not free.

If you're getting a blank screen when you record, are you running the game in full screen or windowed - no-border? Whilst I'm not familiar with your program, that could have something to do with it.

Edit: The CPU affinity has nothing to do with it.

Mr/Ms Saltisgood, you just saved me $37 and a lot of grief! I didn't know the "Windowed no border" existed! Thank you very much!

I'll be posting Mock Effect again much sooner than I worried!

FRAPS, never had any issues with it. I even ponied up the dough for the full version.
