Mage 2: Rhys - becuase you can link him with the magister which could be one of the apprentices that beat him (this will add to the party "drama").
Rogue 1: Ariane (from witch hunt) - she could again be hunting for some lost elven artifacts as she did in WH (this could be change with the warrior 2).
Rogue 2: Sigrun - for the warden/dwarf/legion of the dead combi.
Warrior 1: Chassandra or Cullen - Either would be candidates for this but i would prefere Chassandra since cullen have had some much air time allready and would like to see him return another time in a future game. ¨
Warrior 2: A Qunari or Tal-Vashoth - mostly to get a more broad race party (as we had in DA:O ).
Floater 1: Adrian - because of Rhys this could be an interresting character combination which in turn could make a LI triangle between PC, Rhys and Adrian.

Rogue 2) Melee - Preferably new and preferably a woman. If Bioware feel it necessary to feature more returning characters then I would prefer this slot to be filled by a minor character like Charade Amell.
Warrior 1) 2Hander - Preferably new. I would love to have a Chasind barbarian. We know so little about their culture, their beliefs and their way of life that they're something of a mystery. It would be awesome to get to know their culture through a living, breathing, talking Chasind.
Warrior 2) Cass. For obvious reasons - Being a Seeker she has a personal stake in the conflict brewing between the Chantry and the Mages, and therefore she'll likely tie directly to the plot of Inquisition.
Mage 1) Damage - I'd like to see a Tevinter Mage, but not your classic Slaver/Blood Mage/Psycho. I'd like to see a more level-headed Tevinter Mage who has refused to engage in the shadey political "necessities" of the Imperium. One that can convey the darker side of things with a reasonable view point and not just fanatical rambling - If Bioware want to go for a ret-con they could probably use Feynriel for this role, but I'd really rather they didn't.
Mage 2) Healer - Preferably new.
Aside from that? More original companions like Shale and Sten - Though considering the current state of Qunari affairs a Tal'Vashoth might be more fitting.
Another thing in regards to companions as a whole - Please, by Tyr's bloody stump, don't make them utterly single-minded to the point of fanatical about their personal views. It's nice to hear the opinions of others but I don't need them shoved down my throat at every turn.

2 Mages
3 Warriors
Rogue:
1. One of your rouge party members should be a close up dual fighter. Make it a male elf, who is like Gin from Bleach(google it if you have to, it's an anime). He should be all sarcasm and smiles on the outside, but on the inside he is a poised cobra ready to strike.
2. Next rogue should be a long range type. And i don't mean give the guy a crossbow or normal bow, get creative. Maybe use a chain with thousands of blades on it to attack from close to long range combat. He would be a human too.
3. Tallis. Enough said...
Mage:
1. An escaped sarrebas, on the lamb from the Qun. She(yes, a girl) would be an invaluable ally always willing to lend a helping hand, if it meant defying the will of the qunari.
2. For a long time now I've always wanted a mage, who is even more demon trippy than most other party members. He would be a human who is a powerful abomination, but it was done against his will. When he was just a baby, blood mages took him from his Templar father, and used blood magic to seal the strongest demons within him. The most powerful Desire, Pride, Hunger, Rage, and Sloth demons were sealed within him and he's been trying to cope with eversince.
Warrior:
1. Cassandra of the Seekers.
2.Cullen
3. A female dwarf who wields a two handed blade. She doesn't take **** from anyone, but she is a very kind-hearted person. She left Orzammar with her two brothers when they were very young. And so they've been doing anything they can to get by. Like be hired muscle for human nobles.

Mage #2: Desire Demon Allure, without any intention, interest or capability to posses anyone. She is forced to serve PC master either as companion or slave ( or mistress ... ok, ignore this part. ) as part of the bargain as she loose a bet to PC.
Rogue #1: A calm persuasive female character who defy The Maker. She is mercenary for hired. She hunt down any blood mages like Merril and chantry zealots like Leliana, for a living. An excellent crossbow sniper who is also capable to kill her opponents with magical instruments such as Urthermiel's Flute. Legend tells that she is one of the many daughters of Flemeth, who like Morrigan, escape her mother possession by unknown ritual. She on the quest to track down Morrigan ( and The Warden if applied ) for reason only known to her.
Rogue #2: A beautiful sea nymph and master of disguise. Capable to transform into any figure including Devine Justina.
Warrior #1: A barbarian female who favor huge axe as primary weapon. She has dark shiny skin and long silk soft hair. She enjoy breaking her opponent's nose in the arena which is organized by the barbarian tribes once a year. She loose a fight to PC one day right in front of her tribal chief. And she could not accept such defeat/humiliation. In her pursue to become the ultimate warrior of her tribe, she decide to join the PC.
Warrior #2: Dual wielding ninja/samurai female who prefer silence and be left alone. She has a grudge againt rogue #2 and plot to kill her secretly behind PC back.
Floater #1: An anti Andrastian who love to condemn Anders for his terroism in DA 2. She is feline with unknown origin and past.
Floater #2: A mythical pixie who mimic the kender, Tasslehoff Burrfoot in Dragonlance.
Floater #3: An ancient silver dragon in female human form who lost her memory after the catastrophe that befell the dragons in Thedas a very long time ago. Somewhat link to the Old God Dumat and Urthemiel but was never considered as one of the old gods.

I've kind of been hoping for Bethany and Carver, but I'm not sure how they'd make that happen story-wise. Although, I guess if they brought back Anders after Awakening, it can happen.

I'm not terribly interested in seeing companions return. I don't see a reason why the companions would have a particularly different dynamic or something new to offer the new PC that they couldn't potentially have with the Warden or Hawke, unless they get a personality lift like Anders.
That said, it's pretty much 100% important that we get companions that each lucidly and rationally express their sides of the mage/templar conflict without any demonizing. On that note, it'd be nice to see a blood mage who makes good decisions and is rational with their use of blood magic.
I would also be nice to see a "bad" male lead, since there's this weird dynamic BioWare is fond of in making the male lead the more moral and heroic, and the female lead less so. (Carth/Bastila, Dawn Star/Sagacious Zu (or Sky), Kaidan/Ashley, Alistair/Morrigan, Jacob/Miranda, and I don't know if I'd call any character but Varric a lead). It'd be nice to see a change.

There seem to be quite a few threads garnering support for certain companions or companion concepts. I was searching for a thread with ideas for a complete roster, and I didn't find any. I was thinking about it myself, and generally, we get two mages, two rogues, and two warriors with the occasional floater/DLC character here and there. From the pool of characters we already know and characters you can imagine, how would you fill out some or all of the following:
Mage #1:
Mage #2:
Rogue #1:
Rogue #2:
Warrior #1:
Warrior #2:
Floater #1:
Floater #2:
Floater #3:
General thoughts on a roster:
Here is mine:
Mage #1: Rhys
Mage #2: A female apostate Rivaini seer/hedge witch (practicing magic similar to voodoo), or a grown-up Feynriel, with a somniari specialization.
Rogue #1: A fallen Antivan noble lady, working as a courtesan/spy/rogue, eventually trying to find and kill the noble responsible for hiring the Crows who killed her family. I imagine her as a femme fatale - beautiful, seductive, and dangerous - and, if a LI, her trust would be hard to earn (kind of like Morrigan or Jack), and she would choose her vengeance over your PC's ideals.
Rogue #2: A Grey Warden - male or female, doesn't matter to me. I want to see more of that dual-wielding awesomeness like Duncan!
Warrior #1: Cassandra Pentaghast
Warrior #2: Cullen
Floater #1: A disillusioned, idealisitic Dwarf from Kal-Sharok who would like to re-establish the city's connection to the outside world, with a quest revealing the "questionable things" the dwarves in Kal-Sharok have had to do to survive and offering the protagonist a chance to either convince the city to re-establish relations with the outside world or remain isolationist. Maybe a bard from the Artisan caste. Male or female, I just want to go to Kal-Sharok.
Floater #2: Maybe a male City Elf rogue archer leading an underground organization trying to achieve equality for elves. Gossip says he's just a thief leading a thieves' organization, but they steal to fund elf equality.
Floater #3: A Qunari!
General thoughts on a roster:
1. Please make all skill trees available to all companions. I disliked in DA2 when my mages couldn't learn any mage skill, specializations notwithstanding.
2. Please offer at least 3 rogues. If chest/trap/unlocking is going to be rogue-exclusive again, I would like a greater variety from which to choose a perma-partymember.
3. Please allow greater customization for armor. If not the wear-anything option of DAO, at least a few choices to choose from would be nice.
4. Throwing out ideas is all well and good, but hopefully all the companions tie into the story. "You help me, I help you" works too, but it's always good to see a companion with a personal stake in the main story's outcome.
5. If we get them, try to integrate DLC companions equally into the game compared to regular companions, with as much dialogue, interaction, etc. as the others.
6. As far as love interests go, I wouldn't mind the "bi-sexual" or available to any gender PC option. I think this provides the most freedom of choice to the most preferences. When it comes to balancing the weight of "realism" of all bi- companions vs. the freedom of choice to the PC, freedom wins for me every time. I only considered bi- the characters who specifically said so in their dialogue, otherwise I considered their universal availability as a game mechanic, not a sexual preference.
Isn't Cassandra a rogue? I honestly dont think they have announced her class but judging by her style in Dawn of the Seeker she seemed like a rogue!

I guess I thought of her as a dual-wielding warrior a la Origins, but I suppose in the style of DA2, she's a rogue? In any case, looks like there is a thread on this: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/371/index/15118332

I'd rather not see fan-pandering inclusions like Cullen. And there's the unfortunate side effect of any character in your party becoming at least somewhat under your control. That makes big, important characters (like Cullen or Cassandra) lesser. They will take a huge hit in their personal agency and choices, and it'll be about what the player wants for them, not what they want. In short, what potentially makes them interesting in the world at large is useless when they're in your party under your control.

A female Qunari. Don't care if she's romance material, I just really want to get their perspective on Qunari society. In fact it would probably make more sense if she was staunchly against romance.
Rhys and Evangeline would be very interesting as an already intwined duo to come on to your team. It would be a first for Bioware to have two companions that develop their own relationship together. Garrus and Tali kind of barely do that if you don't romance them yourself in ME3, but I'm talkin a more solid companion romance arc that you cant be a part of, only encourage or condone from the side lines.
On the topic of Asunder, lets go ahead and bring Shale back too. Idc what your personal canon is.
And Varric. Bring him back. And Oghren too. Or make a third dwarf comp thats equally awesome. Need more thrilling stout folk. Romancable Varric? Oh snap. Drunken threesome with Oghren? Ye.. uh.. nvm.
Last suggestion, a Tavinter mage. Like the female Qunari, I really want to get a good injection of that perspective. We know a lot about the Imperium, but we've never really had time to get to know a mage thats actually from there. Fenris was a good chance to get a glimpse of the darker side, but surely not all taveinter mages are complete bastards. Or at least if they are, a deeper look at why is in order.
