It can be done, it's not psychohistory, and us at the BSN pride ourselves for crackpot stuff, so why not something practical?
I feel that the best way it could be done is to not put so much emphasis on it. So for example, you chose synthesis. The character models would need that green glow to them, dialogue focused on what happened is altered (though dialogue doesn't have to mean a whole conversation, just bits and piecies here and there,) and maybe an encounter with a Reaper who just so happens to pass by. I don't think it has to have some MAJOR impact since it's not a direct sequel to *Shepard's* story, just a follow up on what happened after.
Good ideas on implementing our choice in ME3 to a sequel?

The thing is, if synthesis isn't a radical change in how organics/synthetics operate, then that just makes the original premise even more ridiculous.

It shouldn't be too difficult. Synthesis just blends organic and synthetic life together, it doesn't give people the power to become as big as a galaxy and fight the anti-spiral.
