The Harrier is a clear cut case of everything else sucking while the Harrier was done right. As opposed to the Harrier being ahead of the pack because its OP, like the Falcon was back in the day, or the Krysae.

More people remember the original Krysae than the original Falcon.

The original Falcon was, for lack of a better adjective...godly. I used to throw it on my melee Krentinel and destroy all things at all ranges.

The original Falcon was beyond broken, against mooks, phantoms, nothing could touch you...

So true.

Couldn't agree more with the OP. This whole idea of weapon rarity = effectiveness works great in single player, but not so much in MP. Every AR should be better than every SMG at medium to long range, regardless of weapon mods and equipment. The best way to do this is to give all the ARs much higher headshot multipliers to reward precision shooting. Since the Harrier is already boss in terms of damage, it would keep the current multiplier. Saber would get just a very slight increase while guns like the C-AR, Avenger, Phaeston and GPR get a bump up to 3.75 modifier. Mattock, due to lower ammo and Carpal Tunnel inducing semi-auto would get a x4.0 modifier. Then guns like the Falcon and Striker would have to be adjusted to make up for not getting headshot damage bonuses, so increase the Falcon RoF to 80% of its original and make the Striker 15% more damage per shot with an additional 42 rounds of spare ammo at level 10.

Agree'd.
Whenever I want to play with an Assault rifle, I always gravitate towards the harrier, why?
Because all the other AR's are just bad in comparison, there's no reason for me to pick them up other than for a challenge.

Eg, Why would you use a one shot mantis, over a one shot widow (On a non caster infiltrator, with points in only tactical cloak.) Yeah you might for a challenge, but the widow gets more Dps at the expense of ammo and weight.

Same deal with the harrier, use a avenger, no I'll deal with the weight and lessor ammo for more Dps thank you very much. And used on the right class it's not even an issue.
so of course the harrier is going to seem op on a Demolisher, I get my ammo and I don't need to care about weight.
TGI, gets more damage out of it, and due to his mobility getting to a ammo box isn't that much of an issue.

Again, why would you use a Widow on a caster class that isn't an infiltrator, your just shooting yourself in the foot when you could get more mileage out of the weapon when it's used on the right class.

It's not a PvP game, so we should let missile glitchers have their way, and enjoy their "hard earned" rewards. After all, it's a coop game, what's it to you that they can clear plat faster than a  well coordianted group with their magical boom sticks since you get the credits/XP too! Also them having better weapons is beneficial to you anyway since it'll make the game smoother when they decide to play normally.

No? Thought so...

Really? You're equating an instant kill glitch / exploit to a powerful ultra-rare weapon?? I'll refrain from any ad-hominem attacks here, but I think your logic is seriously lacking.

So I'm trying to understand, you want me to use sub-par weapons because it'll make the game smoother? What do you mean by smoother? More kills for you?

I agree. The reason so many people use the Harrier is not so much because the Harrier itself is so awesome, but because so few other assault rifles are any good. The Harrier is one of the few, perhaps the only assault rifle that actually performs like it should.

Give the other assault rifles a boost.

I'm trying to point out how "it's not a PvP game" is not a valid argument when considering game balance. By smoother i mean that by having Xed UR weapons, you'll contribute more than you would if you only had ****ty weapons, regardless of skill level.

I'm saying that the game was enjoyable before the DLCs introduced items that outperform similar weapons in every aspect. You hear all this talk about "the game being too easy" only cheesy, but never once i see someone suggesting "restoring" difficulty by nerfing the player.

This is why I asked earlier if people would tell which assault rifles are any good on Platinum. I don't play plat. my self, but if I tried I would think Harrier, Typhoon, and Saber being ones I would try, and those are all ultra rares.

yes! i have been saying this for awhile now aswell, a slight damage buff to the revenant and phaeston would be perfect. maybe also the collector AR.

IMO the Kishock is fairly easy to use too (harder than the Harrier, I'll admit as much), but whatever. This is a case where we'll have to agree to disagree.

Sure if you're host. Harrier doesn't care about that.

If I use the Kishock off host, I use it on a char that has a stunning power, like Energy Drain, Overload, Sabotage, SubNet, or even Cryo blast. Even if you're laggy you can definitely put those nasty harpoons in the enemies' heads.

So with qualifiers it's easier. As I mentioned earlier the harrier needs none of that. Use it with any character and it's easy. Period.

If they buff Phaeston, also CAR should be buffed because otherwise they would be pretty much the same weapon with different skin.

EDIT: I would be happy if Revenent instead of damage buff would have a bit less bullet spread.

Oh except this isn't a PVP game and I don't get why people get so rabid in calling for nerfs. Last I checked this was still a co-op game.  Following the OP's intent for this thread, I do think the rare and uncommon ARs could use a bit of a buff. For their weight and the fact that they require you be out of cover for longer, there should be some kind of return. Putting 600- 700 rounds into an atlas with the geth plasma rifle just isn't that much fun (assuming it's focusing on someone else and you have that luxury).

No... Using glitches an cheating is completely different than nerfing the only good weapons in a class.
You don't seem to understand the difference. Cheating your way to the top will result in a lack of real skill IF those cheaters then start to play properly.

The nerfing of the Harrier is totally unjustified, yes it outclasses every other AR but that is only because the rest are so underpowered.
Give the other ARs the buffs they need and you will see alot less Harriers in games.
As it stands, it is the only AR that feels right, yes it is easy to use but it is hard to master, just like real ARs. All the others are little more than over-weight, under performing SMGs.

PPR is also Platinum-worthy.

It is also Ultra-Rare, unfortunately.

Why does everything have to be equal? Why does it bother people that a bunch of players like to use the harrier? If some of the suggestions I have seen here got implemented, there would be no need for the AR to be split up into classes at all....they could all just be URs. Yes, some of them "suck" compared to URs. OF COURSE THEY DO! DUH! Commons should suck compared to URs, ect.

Thanks! So basically those who like to take soldier class on plat. must grind a lot to have weapon good enough to play on that level. I think that concludes this about those who oppose AR buffs. Nerfing any AR would break the game for soldier class on higher difficulties.

More I think of OP, more I agree. We need AR's that would be more than barely passeble on higher difficulties. Not many everybody likes Argus, but IMO it one of the rare AR's that works ok on Gold, wouldn't take it on Plat. So below Ultra-Rare category, what's there for Plat. players?

I can't understand those of you that say the Harrier is the only good AR. The Saber is excellent if you can aim, with the headshot multipliers available to every character via mods or gear it's superb. Same goes for the PPR, it's a fantastic boss killer.

Being able to aim works with any class and any weapon with decent accuracy.

The Harrier, Saber and PPR are fine the way they are. Some of the other UC and Rare ARs could use a buff of some kind. For example, the Revenant needs an accuracy boost and the Argus could use a decrease in recoil.

Because you simply need a big bunch of luck to get URs. That's not the case on any weapon below UR. I can't, for instance, do good on platinum without good (aka UR) weapons. And this is simply not acceptable.

The Typhoon is also apparently Platinum worthy, but it's a lot more tricky to use.  I've never gotten the hang of using it well.  I don't like it's ramp up mechanic.  Who wants to use an assault rifle that can't be burst fired to conserve ammo and improve poor accuracy?

The Harrier is a lot more functional.  It can be burst fired, or empty the whole clip, and it's more accurate.  It's just the best all-around assault rifle.

Could not agree more and would like to add that the Harrier, imho, is simply the most balanced, not to mention the most fun, AR in the game.

Bar none.

However, there's ALWAYS one or two that think otherwise.

They sometimes make me swear.

Well, the same could be said with any of the other UR Assault Rifles.

And yeah, using the Kishock offhost needs adjustments. Tbh, it's the only thing that balances the weapon. Before the Javelin/Black Widow's recent buff, it was the best SR all around.

I actually mentioned Typhoon, it's very good in bottle neck situations on Gold, don't know if that works on Plat. I ditched Harrier because bottle necks won't hold when I need to run for ammo.

Ok, I didn't bother to read through the whole thread, sorry about that.

Will only post my 2 cents here.

To the OP. Yes, I do think there are some (not as many as everyone likes to think, but still some) ARs which might need a bit of tweaking and buffing. Just to take them on a decent level, you know.

They don't need to be like the harrier, as the harrier is UR. But they might be at least decent.

Not talking about niche guns like the falcon though. They have their niche and cover that well.

I'm taling about guns like the revenant or the phaeston. They just suck, there's absolutely nothing that they do better than something else.
